On 2006-12-01, Lampy47 rated this Adams RPM Redline Stainless Steel a 5...(7538)

Details: 4 wood, 17 degrees, stock stiff Fujikura shaft

Purchase: Golftown for $98 canadian plus tax. I bought this club to round out my new set. I really don't like most of the fairway woods that I can afford. I considered some good used clubs like titliest, ping and cobra but they didn't seem to agree with me. I bought the 4 wood to replace getting a 3wood and a 5wood and to give me versatile options off the fairway and tee.
Pros: this club is very easy to hit off the tee. I was a bit suprised because it is a more compact head than the Cobra SZ that I was playing. This club just sets up really well and I actually have confidence in it off the fairway also. I think a lot of people should consider a 4 wood vs a 3w and 5w. Less clubs to learn and more loft makes it easier to launch for the most of us. I really haven't given up yardage to my 3 wood that much because i am getting such good flight and contact.
Cons: It's not really just with this club it's just fairway woods in general... I just find them tough off the fairway. I can always launch the ball but I don't find I get good distance. I find a long iron or a hybrid works better for me off the turf. I am hoping i can learn to control some aggressive swings with this club and develop my ability to use a fairway wood off the fairway.
Quality: Top notch. I am never blown away with the grips adams puts on there clubs but the clubs are top notch and the company has an excellent website and customer service team available with a quick call.

Review Summary: Really excited about the club. I am hitting it very well off the tee right now but i haven't had much practice yet with it off the fairway. buying a 4w instead of a 3 wood and 5 wood or hybrid really allowed me to get nicer stuff in different areas of my set as I completed it and I really didn't give the ability to hit any shots. When (or if) I start shooting 80 I would maybe then evaluate if I need a 14th club in my bag.
