On 2005-05-31, Ahheck rated this Adams Red Line RPM Stainless Steel (Stiff) a 5...(5586)
Purchase: I went to the local Nevada Bob's golf shop to try out a new 3 wood seeing as my old one I got in '88. I tried out many of the new clubs and some of the old. I preferred this one so i bought it for $200. A very reasonable price for such a good club!!!
Pros: This club is an outstanding performer. I tried out the Nike T-60 stiff (bad feel), the Ping G2 stiff (bad face design and more expensive), the Callaway ERC Fusion stiff (way to expensive just for the name... its a worthless club for that much), the Cleveland Launcher [both composite and regular] stiff (didnt perform and had a bad feel), the Orlimar Trimetal stiff (good club but not as high performance as the Redline), the Adams Ovation stiff (great shaft just liked the redlines feel a little bit more), and of course the Adams Redline RPM Stiff (all around GREAT!!!). When i first tried out the Redline I was curious as to the softness of impact, becuase i had read in some reviews it is a dull impact. When i felt the clubface hit the ball i did notice it was softer but not in a bad way. I noticed it felt better than most and it wasnt all that soft. What amazed me was the fact that as soft as it felt the redline was crushin the ball. As opposed to my other hits with other clubs, i was hittin 275 rather than 250, and i wasnt even powering it. Having played quite a few rounds with the club i have noticed the Tight lies feature (upside down clubhead) really does well at getting good contact in, well, tight lies such as deep rough. If u have read my other post in the Ping i3+ section u will notice i love Pings. I was already leaning toward the Ping G2 before i had tried any wood out, but after testing all the clubs out i had eliminated all but the Redline, the Ovation, and the G2. After another 200+ hits, i had eliminated the ovation becuase i liked the feel of the Redline more and i still wanted the G2 just for the name. After many more hits i realized that the Redline is a much better club than the G2. I bought the redline and have playd amazing rounds with the help of it. Just to make sure i made the right decision i borrowed a friends G2 and played a round with that. Now that i have thoroughly tried both out in many situations i am extremely happy with the Redline and very disappointed with the G2 and the others. The only reason i would suggest getting any other club is either if u need to save money and its cheaper or you're just a rich guy who thinks hes cooler for a name brand Ping, Nike, Cleveland, or Callaway (although adams isnt a no name brand) some of which youll pay a lot more just for the name
Cons: I have used this club MANY times and there is nothing i dont like about it. The only thing that slightly worries me is (just like all composite clubs) the fact that composite is a new thing and along with many new things could have some problems, although i dont think it will.
Quality: This is a very high quality club. It is better than the Callaway ERC fusion for $100 less. It is better than the Ping G2 for $20 less. It is better than the Cleveland launcher composite for $100 less. Over all this is a durable, well-made club which surpasses all other woods i have ever tried out.
Review Summary: The Adams Redline RPM is the best club out there for that price. Even many higher priced clubs cannot surpass its performance. I would suggest this club for absolutely anyone, a 1 mill handicapper and a 0 handicapper. It is a very well rounded club for a great price.
