On 2006-02-23, Par is OK rated this Adams Hybrids a 1...(6676)
Details: Graphite shafts. Two versions and three different lofts.
Purchase: I bought these from different vendors on Ebay. Prices were between $38.00 to $52.00 not including s/h. I've heard good things about Adams hybrids, so wanted to try them.
Pros: I've bought 2 different versions. A Pro-Hybrid 2 iron (17 degrees loft), a 3 and 4 Hybrid iron with 17 degrees and 21 degrees respectively. The Pro-Hybrid has more weight towards the face, so it's a bit less forgiving on misshits but it does allow you to work the ball left or right. This club works very well off the tee, easier to hit than a 5 wood and more accurate than a driver or 3 wood. I hit a std 5 wood about 215, and this Pro-Hybrid goes 210 to 215. The face shape is the std. Adams shape, so it's pretty easy to hit it from the fairway or mild rough. Not a good choice for deep rough. The other two clubs are the regular Hybrid models. The 3 iron also 17 degrees of loft, but is 1/2' shorter than the 2 iron. It flies around 200 to 205 yards The weight is farther back and lower than the Pro-Hybrid for more forgiveness but less ability to move the ball left or right. These clubs are so much more consistant than long irons it's not funny... great for any golfer from pro to hacker. The 4 iron has 21 degrees loft and it goes 190 to 195. The 3 and 4 Hybrids have more face offset than the 2 iron, which is better for players who over fade the ball on occasion. All these clubs are easy to hit off a short tee or the turf and feel good doing it.
Cons: You should try before you buy as the shaft flex ratings may not match what you're used to swinging. The flexs feel a bit light to me, if you have a smooth 80 to 85 mph swing the reg. flex should be ok. Above 85 to 100 mph, a smooth swing needs the stiff shaft and if your swing is well over 100 mph or is short and snappy, a custom shaft ( NVS or ProLaunch etc.) is probably a good idea.
Quality: Constuction quality seems fine, I've never had a problem with a Adams club (knock on metalwood), but I wish oem manufacturers would use larger grips. I have to build up tape layers or replace with midsize grips on every club I buy.
Review Summary: Unless your in love with long irons, Hybrids are the only way to fly. For the money, you just can't beat these clubs.
