Purchase: This club was purchased used for $20 at
2nd Swing in Orland Park, IL. It is 17* loft, and was purchased to fit in between my 14* three wood and my 21* hybrid utility club.
Pros: The club has good weighting for forgiveness in the clubhead. The face is maraging steel, a very hard steel, the body is standard 17-4 metal, there are tungsten screws toward the heel and toe, and there is a heavy brass screw toward the rear of the sole. Hence the name of the club, Quad Metal. The club swings easily, has a nice feel to it upon striking the ball, and gets the ball out there easily. It doesn't hit high, ballooning shots, and it doesn't hit low screamers either. The ball flight is actually very good. The head is fairly low profile, so I thought it might hit the ball too high, but it did not at all.
Cons: The shaft, which is called a Titanium HydroPower Graphite 75 grams shaft (THP 75)
seems to play to a softer flex than indicated. If you play a regular flex steel shaft, I would recommend using the stiff flex in this model. The shaft supposedly has fluid inside of it, with plugs at either end to keep it inside and from leaking out. I'm not really sure of the purpose of this, but it doesn't seem to have any adverse effects.
The club looks to me like it sets up slightly open at address. Once again though, this didn't affect performance as it hit a nice straight ball.
Quality: This club has good quality in most aspects.
The shaft seems to be thinner than most, and the grip is thinner, probably because a standard size grip on a thinner butt size shaft will give you a thinner grip size. I would recommend putting a 1/32" oversize grip on this club to achieve a more standard size grip.
Review Summary: Despite the thin grip and the softer flex, I would strongly recommend this club because it gives such a nice ball flight, even on easy swings. If you have trouble getting a lower lofted three wood to give you a good ball flight, give this a try. The weighting makes it easy to get a good launch angle, and the maraging steel face gives you plenty of distance.

Purchase: I purchased This fairway wood used from a guy I knew at church. I was looking for a 3 wood so I tried the Alien Quad metal.
Pros: It has a small head and a low profile, nice clean look. The club had a nice balance and wieght distribution on the swing. Easy contact was made on the sweet spot.. A nice clean controled drive clean and straight on the tee or off the tee with just enough elevation.. Not to high and not too low.. Kind of a simi penatrating type of drive.. The ball realy rockets off the club face, with a clear metal sound, not as forward sounding as a Titanium driver. The club also has adjustable wieghts that can help with sliceing or hooking..
Cons: There is not anything that I dont like about the Alien Quadmetal. To bad the Alien has gone bankrupt.
Quality:
Review Summary: I personaly think this is a good club for novice and accomplished players..This is a very good club..
