Purchase: Purchased this club online from LowProGolf.com after reading many reviews and trying quite a few clubs. I demo'd OEM drivers from Cobra (400SZ), Taylormade (R540XD, Quad R7), Cleveland (Launcher 460) and even component drivers SMT (HP420, 455DB). This driver outperformed them all easily with only the QuadR7 even coming close. But for the $250 I paid, I got better distance and better accuracy than all of the drivers I tried. I have it matched with the Accuflex Assassin II WC shaft in stiff flex.
Pros: Looks are topnotch. Black head, black chrome sole, and smoky-grey face on the clubhead mated with a blood red w/black graphics shaft, and a black grip all make for a very beautiful and serious looking club. I have a 94-98 mph swing speed and have struggled with my driving. Not anymore! First time out I hit 10-14 fairways with 6 of those fairway hits in the 250-260 range. Next time out hit 4-7 on my league with 2 more just off the fairway. Feel when you hit the ball is sweet...almost like a good hit with a forged iron. Sound is a muted *tink*...not altogether loud or unpleasant. Black face provides feedback on exactly where you hit the ball by looking at the ball mark...then wipe it clean and you're all set to go again.
Cons: Nothing yet. Maybe the price of the head seems a bit high at first, but when you get the complete club together and realize you're outperforming drivers that are $150 to $250 more....you realize it's a great deal
Quality: Construction is topnotch. It's a 2 piece welded head so it feels more solid than most drivers out there that are 4 piece welds. I believe there's a lifetime warranty on the head, but I don't believe I'll need it as this head is being used on the longdrive circuit and being hit by clubhead speeds alot faster than mine....Quality of the finish is beautiful. I've always loved black heads, but with the black sole and face, it looks tough.
Review Summary: Great club for the money. See if you can get a clubfitting first to make sure of your clubhead speed and your style so you can get the correct shaft matched with the correct loft. Shaft can be almost as important as the head. Then make sure you purchase it from a good qualified clubmaker.
