Purchase: I saw this driver in an ad. in a golf magazine. While I wasn't unhappy with my existing driver (Precept 310 ti 8.5 degree) I was not as accurate with it as I would have liked. I went to a local clubfitter and took a look at the Alpha. Loved the look and the way it felt at setup so...I took a gamble and bought it. I chose the 9.5 loft even though I hit with a pretty high ball flight, since I've been reading everywhere that more hang time means more distance! I went with a 44" grafalloy blue stiff shaft, figuring if the head was as hot as it claims I could get more accuracy with the shorter shaft and not lose any distance.
Pros: Bingo. Sets up beautifully and inspires confidence. From the first shot at the range I knew this was something special. I've had the club a month now...it took two weeks to really figure it out (in fact for a while there I was thinking I'd been rather hasty with the purchase). Now when I swing easy with it, it's one of the most predictable clubs in the bag. Long high ball flight and lots of carry. I play at a tight course and would routinely leave the driver in the bag for all but about 6 holes. I'm using it on 10 or 11 now. Hitting Driver wedge instead of Driver 7 or 8 iron into some of the par 4s is finally making a difference. Oh...and when you hit it on the screws...the sound is wonderful!
Cons: Availability. Takes a while to track it down. If Kent Sports put this into regular golf stores it would sell like hot cakes.
Quality: Great mirror black finish....high quality and visually striking. Teaming it with the Grafalloy Blue makes it the cat's pyjamas.
Review Summary: Good value, well made club. Will be in my bag for a good while!
