On 2005-05-20, RDP -- Cincinnati rated this Alpha Version 2, 425 cc, 9.5*, Aldila NV 65R a 5...(5529)

Purchase: I’ve been away from the game for a while and read up a lot on equipment. I read about Alpha in Golf Digest—2005 Equipment “Hot List” and when I saw the pictures at Alpha's web site I was sold. I bought the driver, with the Aldila NV 65R shaft, spine aligned, with Alpha Whisper grips for $260 on Ebay at Dolwin Golf.
Pros: As good as this club looks in Alpha’s photos, it looks even better in your hands. The alignment aide is the Greek letter for alpha— cool! The “impact tape” face is an excellent tool to help get your swing grooved and it is easily wiped clean with a little moisture on thumb or towel. If you’re careful you can just wipe off the miss-hits and save the “bulls eyes” to impress your friends. The black face gives the club a very unique look. Trust me, everyone will ask about the V2. Real pop and sizzle when the ball leaves the face. The first time out I blew 40-yards past the long-drive marker for a corporate golf outing, which I was not part of. I can’t brag about the wedge work from there, but that drive was one I won’t soon forget.
Cons: I would like to have been about to try and buy these clubs locally but there are no places that stock demo clubs. However, the review here helped me decide to take a bit of a chance.
Quality: The lower loft and the lower launch of this shaft create a nice boring trajectory—no balloons. I had mine spine aligned and face is square. My speed is less than 90 and the regular flex really kicks on the Alpha driver and FW’s. With this deep face, if you sky mark this club you must be teeing the ball on a batting tee. I'm not a club builder but this club appears to be flawlessly constructed and assembled.

Review Summary: Looking for something different, that will out-perform the mass production brands? Give Alpha a try. I think you'll be pleased. I bought the this driver plus a 3 wood and 5-wood, without ever touching one, and I could not be more pleased with these clubs.
