On 2004-03-15, Brian rated this Bang Bang O Matic 9.5 Degree a 5...(3096)

Purchase: After reading reviews on this sight, and many others, I decided to give this club a shot. The major reason I bought it was becuase the Cleveland and Taylor Made clubs I was looking at were selling for a minimum of $250. I was looking to spend under $200. What made the Bang club more interesting was that I was able to pick my shaft. I got a stiff flex graffalloy blue. If I wanted the same upgrade on the other clubs(which it seems like alot of other people do), the R580 or the Launcher would have been over $300. I ended up getting the Bang O Matic and Headcover for $200 with shipping included.
Pros: Cosmetically this clubhead with the Blue shaft looks great. The club is definately a conversation piece. What makes it even better is that it is so forgiving that even a 20+(on a good day!!) handicapper like myself could lauch the ball 280+ yards. The first time I went to the range, I was occasionally carrying the ball over a 50 foot net that was 200 yards away from the tee box.
Cons: The only thing I dont like about the club are the chrome colored strips(look at the club on the internet) on the back of the clubhead. They don't look bad, but I would prefer a solid black head with the chrome of the bottom of the head.
Quality: Very solid clubhead. When you think about it, at some of the websites that sell Bang components, this clubhead is $125+ alone. It really isn't just a cheaper version of some "brand" name. At impact, the club noise is loud and fast, like a rifle going off. Very cool, you could tell your not swinging around some tiny little club. It is very lightweight for its size(460cc) and conforms to the USGA standards.

Review Summary: The bottom line about this club is that if you dont mind answering some questions and don't need to see a $350 club in your bag to feel like a true golfer, it is a great investment. Shop around, I used ebay, but they are many sights that build component clubs and some prices are significantly better than others.
