Bang-O-Matic 460cc Golf Drivers

The Bang-O-Matic is black and has the distinctive chrome half circles on the rear of the club. Other reviewers have stated that they bother them, but if you are concentrating on a spot on the ball you can't see them. Loft is 11 degrees, eventhough the head says 12. I had it hand picked at Bang. The launch angle is lower with this head. I would recomend 1 degree more than you think you need. Shafted with the UST V2, R flex, 65 gram shaft with Golf Pride tour velvet grip. I counter-balanced the shaft with 30 grams under the grip. If you haven't tried countr-balancing than you may be missing the boat. Really tightend my center contact. I'm up and down from 6hcp to 8hcp. I had had troble with driving with distance, but this club has changed all that. Bought a Bobby Grace M5KGT putter, Wow, and now all I need to do is play more to get to 73 or 74. Favorite course is any course I'm playing. Just love the game. 70's I bought this after reading the reviews here. I paid $125 for the head and $70 for the shaft and grip. I put it together myself. Bought it straight from Chris @ Bang Golf. LONG! BEST DRIVER I'VE EVER HIT PERIOD. Can't say anything else. Nothing Top notch. Looks like a masterpiece. Have many people ask me about it because it looks like nothing else. Totally top notch in performance and looks.
Bottom line is this is a great club. You don't have to be a long drive contestant to play this head. I've picked up 20 yards by increasing my launch angle and decreasing my spin rate. How did I do all this you ask.....Bang-O-Matic. Like I said, make sure you get enough loft. I've played nearly every driver on the market and I like this by far the best. Can't see me changing for several years. Cadillac of drivers!

460cc 10.5 loft, UST V2 65 R flex, Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip I've been playing for 11 years and I'm a 10 hcp. Strenths are being straight, iron play, and putting. My weaknesses are wedge play and finding a driver that is just right. Home course is Valley View Golf Club in Southern Indiana. Favorite course is Victoria National in Newburg, Indiana. 80's After reading reviews I bought these components from In Golf for $195. I've built my own clubs for 5 years and I'm always searching for the perfect set. I like the look, sound, I guess everything. This club I gaurantee is the longest driver you can swing. No Doubt! You have to be careful to match it with the right shaft. My r flex is now more like a weak X flex because the bore depth is 63.5mm or 2 1/2'. That's 1 1/8' more than most clubs. You would have to buy a shaft that is one flex softer than you think you need. If you do that there is, in my opinion, no possible way to get a driver that is longer. The trajectory is piercing. Note: because of the bore depth the trajectory is lower than stated loft. The ball jumps off the face, goes long, and rolls out more than any club I have ever used. I have built and owned more drivers than I can count and this is the real deal if you can swing it. I think if your club head speed is 100mph and over this is perfect for you. If you are under 100 I would opt for the Bangster. There isn't anything I don't like. Top quality construction. The only thing I don't like is that I'm not quite man enough to do this club justice. The people at In Golf were nice, but needed to be more informed on this head. They said it wouldn't effect the flex,WRONG, and that the trajectory was high, WRONG again. I'm going to sell this club if I can find a buyer and get the Bangster. It's bore depth is 41mm which would make it more for my 95mph swing speed and will make shafts play more true to flex. Top notch as I said. People have said how loud this club is and I didn't find that to be true. They also didn't like the chrome lines on the rear of the club. I did't even notice them when looking at the ball.
Bottom Line: The bore depth realy makes this club for heavy hitters. If you are a heavy hitter.......Buy IT. I would give it 8 stars if I could. It's not the clubs fault that it's more than I can handle.

came with an aldila 65s shaft Been playing for twenty plus years. Didn't start playing until mid thirties.
Play at Wilderness Ridge, in Lincoln.
Always enjoyed hitting the long ball off tee. 80's Had the bang recommended by a friend. Searched on ebay and tried several times to buy one. Finally got lucky and bought one already shafted with an aldila nv 65s. This club and shaft combination have accomplished two things for my golf game. I have always enjoyed great camraderie with people I golf with, and especially humor. When you tell someone you are playing a bang o matic, they laugh. Which I enjoy. But the real fun part comes when you blast the ball 20 to 40 yards past them in the middle of the fairway. Then its my turn to laugh. There is nothing about this club that I do not enjoy. I will be adding a 3 and 7 wood in the near future. Construction was done by someone who obviously knew what they were doing. The balance and feel of this club is incredible.
I wish everyone could find that one 'magic' club that would energize and take their game to a higher level. If you are looking for that one club, try the bang o matic, you may find what I did.

bang-'bang-o-matic' 9' reg- shaft with the FA system. I am a 15- been playing five years, hit a Cobra before, going BACK to it now. I hit 70% of my fairways about 235 average. WAS looking for longer drives, I now realize how good my Cobra is. 80's I purchased my new Bang driver at a small golf shop in El Monte, I paid $199 for the driver. I read about how this driver broke all kind of distance records ( ha ha). This is the worst purchase I have ever made! I bought a off brand driver on time at big 5 for $29 that make this driver look bad! I went right back and got my money back after one bucket of balls. I asked the Pro to please hit a few shots to make sure it was not just me. All the shots were 180 yards, low hook!!!!! Even the pro could hit one good shot. This driver feels like a kids toy! Not one thing other than I got my money back. LIke a toy
If you purchase this driver you will quit the game thinking you just cannot play.

I've been playing golf for about 20 years seriously and about a 6 handicap. My home course is Old Avalon in Warren, Ohio. My strenght lies in my short game, but i can get a little off on my iron play, but when i'm on i can shoot in the low to mid 70's. 70's After a great deal of research, I bought the Bang-O-Matic from Mike at 2puttgolf.com who is a Bang dealer. I read about the distance of Bang products and just had to get one. I bought the driver with a Grafalloy Prototype NT 65 shaft in a stiff flex for $200.00. First of all, this driver is longgggg! It is so appealing to look at and sits beautifully, and man does it "Bang" when you hit it. I can usually poke it about 240-250 when i really get one, BUT with this baby, i'm at least 20 yards longer. In fact, at my home course #12 is a 440 yard par 4, and i was left with 151 yards to that green. Do the math...that's about a 290...and i'm only 5" 6' On #17, a 510 yard par 5 I was left with 215 to the green. Do the math again...and that's about 295...are you kidding? I'm not. Not a single thing! The head is a beautiful high gloss black with silver rings cut in semi-circular grooves at the back end of the driver. The face is deep and has just 3 score lines cut across the face. It is a piece of craftsmanship. Check out the unit for yourself at Banggolf.com.
If you're looking to add some length and want a real piece of clubmaking craftsmanship, then check out with Bang Golf has to offer. This is longer than any OEM i tried including the Adams Redline, The Cleveland Launcher, and the Nike Ignite 460. This club is long, loud, and fun to hit, but it's made by a company that wants to make quality crafted club components. An A+ on all accounts.

After being cosistantly discontented with my previous Taylor Made drivers, I decided to have a driver built to my specs with not only the head but shaft in mind as well. After doing alot of homework, I decided to purchase a 9* BOM head from Golfcraft, a local club builder. The head cost me $125 (which is typical of most retailers). I'd already purchased an Aldila One, 75 gm, Low Trajectory, S flex shaft from Golfworks for $25 on sale. The total cost of having the club built (including grip) was $200. I have a very long arching, high speed swing (122-125 mph). Due to the nature of my swing mechanics, I regularly mis-hit off the tee when I really swing out of my boots. The BOM is extraodrinarily forgiving on off center hits and still gets you plenty of yardage. I had one drive yesterday that came off the toe with a hard draw and landed in bermuda grass rough. I still got 320+ yards out of it. The carry was probably 310 yards alone. This driver is like the Lamborghini of golf clubs. It's just too cool to dislike anything about it. My original BOM head didn't perform exceptionally well,in fact I didn't get any more distance with it than with my TM's. Then after 4 or 5 trips to the range, the head developed a lengthwise crack accross the top of the club face about 3/4 the way up the face. After having the head replaced (at no cost to me) the driver simply obliterated any Titleist parked in it's way. Clearly there simply was a manufacturing defect with the first head. As of yet however, there hasn't been anything to complain about with the new head.
This club just screams performance yet is the most forgiving driver I've ever hit. Do your homework and outfit this head with a shaft that is "right" for you. If you choose your shaft wisely and add a properly lofted BOM head, you'll be hard pressed to beat the combo. ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE! I'll never waste my money on over priced, over rated OEM woods ever again. Now, irons?......That might just be a different story.

I BOUGHT IF FROM A FRIEND OF MINE WHOM LIVES IN MACON GA. THE REASON HE SOLD IT TO ME IS HE BOUGHT A NEW R7 TAYLORMADE. THIS IS THE LONGEST DRIVER I HAVE EVER HIT. I WON A LONGEST DRIVE IN A LOCAL TOURNAMENT THE FIRST TIME I PLAYED WITH IT , 317 YARDS.
I HAVE USED OTHER DRIVERS BUT THIS ONE REALLY GETS THE BALL OUT THERE. I LIKE THE BALL FLIGHT I GET WITH THIS DRIVER A LOW BORING SCREAMER.I LIKE THAT I CAN CARRY THE BALL 275 YARDS . MY FRIEND SAID THE R7 HE BOUGHT IS EVEN LONGER THAN THIS BANG DRIVER BUT I'M STILL OUT DRIVING HIM BY 35 YARDS.I THINK HE WANTS HIS CLUB BACK BUT IT JUST AIN'T GOING TO HAPPEN. ARE YOU KIDDING ? I LOVE THIS DRIVER. TOP OF THE LINE AND THATS THE BOTTOM LINE.
THIS IS THE BEST DRIVER ON THE PLANET AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED. I HAVE NOT HIT THE R7 YET BY I JUST CAN'T SEE HOW IT COULD BE LONGER THAN THIS BANG-O-MATIC

I purchased this club off of www.customgolfsales.com after reading the reviews here. The club was cstom made for just under 200.00. This club is a long as it says, received this club @ 11:30 and was in a tournament at 12:30 the same day, I drove a ball 350 yds into the team ahead of me putting out!!(yelled four), the club is paired with a x-flex Accuflex vs339 shaft. I am an amature and love playing golf. I also spend way to much time reviewing and reading up on equipment. After using a Taylo Made r580 and having a horrendous hook, I decided to take it back and get a club with a stronger shaft(factory stiff was just too soft)and I was not about to buy a off the shelf and have a 70.00 shaft installed. I swing according to the local pro shop 115-120. I came across the Bang after visiting the long drive sites and reading these reviews. I can hit the fairway most of the time. If I try and crush it it's pretty forgiving. Lot's of people have tried it so far an only the weak have trouble hitting it. Get the right shaft and your set. Dislikes: none so far, too long in some situations though. (gotta bring out my Mellow Yellow 3wood) but that's another story Awesome details, bullet proof paint. Sounds like a frying pan getiing hit by a cannon. Definately turns heads when hit.
Never again will I spen 400+ on a driver. If I swing easy it still goes 260 - 300yds. Why would anyone need to be longer than that especially on local courses? Of course when your friends say bang it hard you can show them your Bang O Matic and reply "why not".

I had this club custom built for $200.00. I paid extra for the Aldila NV shaft. Extremely well balanced club. The Aldila NV shaft gives it a very smooth easy swing. With the 9 degree loft the ball explodes off the shaft and continues to roll when it lands for extra distance. After hitting several different drivers, I found this club to have an excellent feel and very easy to hit. Head cover is a little tight to fit onto club. It is well constructed club with a futuristic design. Continues to look good after several outings. Because of glossy shine, it is easy to see swirl marks on black paint. I would highly recommend the Aldila shaft to complement this driver.
Excellent club for someone who wants to gain extra distance on drives without a lot of effort.

e-Bay for $150 with a NV 65 R shaft. After I reshafted to Graffaloy Blue S- very accurate, long and high. Love the big head (460cc) and the chrome stripes make head look smaller at address.
You will catch some ribbing that the head needs decals of dice-- or flames-- or one of those chrome naked woman profiles truckers use on mud flaps. Faded the ball with the NV 65 shaft. I think anyone with an above average swing will need a low torque shaft on this head.
Even with Graffaloy Blue S, this head tends to hit a power fade. Hard to consistently draw-- not just me, but several other single index players & 4 club pros, all have trouble drawing this club- but the power fade gets great roll. Had to lead tape near the hosel, but still tends towards a fade. Club head only weighs 195g
Also, a long black ferrule really makes head esier to line up- has a leading edge of chrome on the top of the head. So far, so good.
Great everyday driver-- but really think the head needs low torque shaft.

this is my 2nd bang driver, after the the 12* mellow yellow. i decided to buy this after doing some reading and in consultation with my clubfitter. everybody says this is a very long club, so like all golf nuts, i went out and got one. paid $199 + $67 for the shaft at gallagher golf in ny. Additional Info: w/ 46' accuflex vs-339 s-flex (then prototype) shaft. the finish is excellent, and it feels like titleist's 983e. actually it's similarity with the 983e made me go get one. patrick gallagher at gallagher golf said it was close (albeit with about 100cc more) and long. it's very workable, and imparts less spin (like the 983e) which was what i wanted. u can easily fade or draw the ball or just slam it straight, and the high kick shaft keeps trajectories low. in the past week i've driven the 9* club to 4 drives over 275m (one at 287m on a flat par5 - which shocked me and my coach). the headcover. too tight for its head. i also ordered a 10.5* but got a 9* (but since i live in the far east i figured sending it back was just too much of a hassle). a 10.5* would've given me a high trakjectory shot and more carry which is what i want, as opposed to the only marginally more roll i have now with the low stingers. construction is excellent. it loks like a really expensive club, altho the paint work looks toyish.
the testa rossa like aerodynamic fins i have no feel of ... doesnt excite or bother me either way.
long club but i think you probably need to mate it with a shaft that fits you to get it to work. i have a swing which is avgs between 109-115mph. that gives me 250m (270yds) in good no-wind conditions. my 95mph swingspeed friend (who is a lower handicapped player than me) could only get this to go 220m (240yds). so the shaft is key.

After reading reviews on this sight, and many others, I decided to give this club a shot. The major reason I bought it was becuase the Cleveland and Taylor Made clubs I was looking at were selling for a minimum of $250. I was looking to spend under $200. What made the Bang club more interesting was that I was able to pick my shaft. I got a stiff flex graffalloy blue. If I wanted the same upgrade on the other clubs(which it seems like alot of other people do), the R580 or the Launcher would have been over $300. I ended up getting the Bang O Matic and Headcover for $200 with shipping included. Cosmetically this clubhead with the Blue shaft looks great. The club is definately a conversation piece. What makes it even better is that it is so forgiving that even a 20+(on a good day!!) handicapper like myself could lauch the ball 280+ yards. The first time I went to the range, I was occasionally carrying the ball over a 50 foot net that was 200 yards away from the tee box. The only thing I dont like about the club are the chrome colored strips(look at the club on the internet) on the back of the clubhead. They don't look bad, but I would prefer a solid black head with the chrome of the bottom of the head. Very solid clubhead. When you think about it, at some of the websites that sell Bang components, this clubhead is $125+ alone. It really isn't just a cheaper version of some "brand" name. At impact, the club noise is loud and fast, like a rifle going off. Very cool, you could tell your not swinging around some tiny little club. It is very lightweight for its size(460cc) and conforms to the USGA standards.
The bottom line about this club is that if you dont mind answering some questions and don't need to see a $350 club in your bag to feel like a true golfer, it is a great investment. Shop around, I used ebay, but they are many sights that build component clubs and some prices are significantly better than others.

LowPro Golf for 228 dollars, but after shipping + import tax (to Italy) total cost 320 dollars!!! I wasn't sure the total cost was worth it as I have bought this completely blind and not use their products before!! 9deg Grafalloy Blue 'x' - 46" long It's very good finish and the paint and overall looks is excelent. It's very classic looking and it does look smaller than 460cc head. Not much. I did try to clean with a cloth and the black gloss finish paint made small marks...because it's very black and very glossy!! If was slightly matallic texture, the marks will not show. But, I am very happy... I am an engineer and I am tech-up and the difference between cast and forged is still a mystry to me. This one is cast. I know what forged and cast is but I am talking about performance gains on drivers. I always used forged blades too.
The rear 'grooves' or aero sections are not necessary but looks ok.
The quality is VERY good.
I used to play off 2 handicap and since for work reason, I can't be a member of a golf club because I move and travel a lot. But, I have many sets of golf clubs, and drivers. I am from UK originally. I bought a Cleveland Launcher 400 with Grafalloy 'x' shaft, 46" long on the 'golfbidder.co.uk' website for 170 pounds. (280 dollars), and two weeks ago I used it for the first time. (I only play 3-4 times a year, but my swing is very sound) I have never used Launcher 400 or Blue shaft before. My swing speed is about 120mph, but good tempo. Anyhow, The Launcher was amazing. The distance were 320 yards on average (hit one 370+ on slightly down hill lie hole) and very good control. I hit it very high and not much spins, and roll for 20-30 yards. I loved that club. I have exact club set here in Italy. Same Ping Answer putter, Mizuno Pro 2 blades, Steelhead 3,4 woods but in UK I was using Launcher and Italy, I had Titleist 975LFE, which was the only difference, driver.
So, I spec out the Bang-o-matic driver to copy my launcher 400!! Because I couldn't find another launcher with same spec again (I did on Ebay afterward!). So, I oder the above spec from LowPro golf on the web. Very good service. Two days from USA to Italy, but FOUR days at the custom!!! I had to pay tax even on FedEx delivery, can you believe it???
I must point out that I have been on the golf course with this driver yet but yester I was ill with flu and stayed home, but in the afternoon I went to the range to get some fresh air and try this driver out!!! It was awesom!! Even with crap one piece concete balls with damaged pimples, it was flying in to 240+ meter wooden advertisement board at the back of the range with a big loud 'BANG'!!! That's 270 yeards carry with CRAP balls, with my Tour Ultimate balls, it will fly 300+ yards in the air!!! It was only 8degC too. I like the Blue shaft very much but I couldn't draw with this driver (I can with Launcher), no metter how hard I try but I was stright or slight block right. (I probably need a little more torque but same X flex shaft). But It was controllable. I don't want to change the shaft because Blue gives me consistancy. With same shaft, flex, in Launcher slight draw or stright, with Bang O matic, stright or slight right but 15 yards+(I am guess).
Summary?? GO AND GET ONE!!!

Originally I was looking to reshaft my Taylor Made Firesole 10.5 degree. However, I found out reshafting with Graffaloy Blue would cost me around $160CDN plus tax. After some research I found this Driver on E-bay from Gallager Golf Direct. All the reviews on the Bang-o-Matic were positive so I went ahead and it fitted with a Graffaloy Blue Stiff shaft (46 inches). Paid $300 CDN in total. I figured if I didn't like it I could always swap out the shaft and put it in my TM. There is a whole lot that I like about this driver. First off, it is a big head but it doesn't look as big as it is. For camparison purposes it looks about the same size as the TM R580 even though it specs say it is 60cc bigger. The quality of construction is second to none and was readily apparent at first glance. The driver sets up extremely well and instills confidence at address. The first few hits at the range told me that this club is Fooorgiiiving!! I was still adjusting to the club so I noticed that toe/heel hits were very solid and straight. I don't know if this is attributable to the driver head, the shaft or a combination of both. My feeling is that it is most likely a result of the combination. After a few off center hits I got my ball set up and address position groved and started making contact in the sweet spot. This is very easy to do and I hardly miss it now...the sweet spot is huge. The ball launches off the face noticably better than my old TM. This driver is long and it is very easy to control the trajectory of your ball. The deep face design launches the ball high when you tee it high and vice versa. The driver also is very durable. I have been to the range a dozen times with it and after bit of cleaning it looks brand new. Overall this driver head performs excellently. In terms of sound, it makes a clink type noise (similar to my Callaway steelhead) not tinny like my TM. Easy to hit, forgiving and long.
The Blue shaft is great. Aesthetics plays a part in my equipment choices so first off it is a nice blue color and doesn't have any flashy graffics. I usually hit a high fade, which is great for my approach shots but would prefer a lower trajectory for my drives. The blue does just that, it has a high kick point which helps me lower my trajectory and gain distance. I have heard some people feel that the blue plays a half flex stiffer than most but I didn't notice. I have an average swing speed of 105-110 and found no problems loading the shaft or it feeling "boardy". Another thing is that Blue is very low torque and I feel no twisting on toe/heel hits. Also when I want to pump up my swing speed and really go at one their is no noticeable lag or twisting of the 460cc head.
Average drives with this combo fly to about 240-250. Couldn't tell you the roll because it has been very wet out here lately.
Overall this has been a very good combination for me. I have gained around 20 yards in distance and a tighter shot dispersion. I played on the course for the first time with it yesterday and hit 10 of 14 fairways. Of the ones I missed only one was in the bush, the others could be called good misses.
The only thing I don't like is the chromed groves at the back of the head. That being said I didn't find them to be distracting, just too flashy for my tastes. As stated earlier quality is second to none. It looks just as good as all the OEM brands out there. The Driver has a beautiful glossy black finish and comes with a high quality head cover(much better than my TM one). The chrome groves are not for me but they doen't look cheap or detract from the overall aesthetics of the head.
This combo is long and forgiving. I have hit many of the big name drivers, Callaway, Taylor Made, Titliest and found this one to fall in the same category but around 1/2 the price. I give this a 4 out of 5 simply because I believe there is always something better. Simply put this IS the best driver I have hit yet.

Bought direct from Bang Golf. $125.00 for the head only. Very well made. Looks great. Gloss black finish. Goes very long. Makes par 5's reachable in 2...especially when you also carry Bang Mellow Yellow fairway woods. Also has a nice sound when struck. The 12* gets the ball up and out for us amateur hacks. If more hacks would increase the loft of their "Big Stick" they would be surprised how much more distance they would gain. Leave the 7-10* for the pro's. There is nothing I dislike about this stick. High Quality.
Steve and Russ at Bang Golf are on their way to fame. It is only a matter of time before the word reaches all..that Bang Components are Quality Stuff.
