On 2004-03-29, dc rated this Bang Bang-o-matic 9* a 1...(3209)

Purchase: this is my 2nd bang driver, after the the 12* mellow yellow. i decided to buy this after doing some reading and in consultation with my clubfitter. everybody says this is a very long club, so like all golf nuts, i went out and got one. paid $199 + $67 for the shaft at gallagher golf in ny. Additional Info: w/ 46' accuflex vs-339 s-flex (then prototype) shaft.
Pros: the finish is excellent, and it feels like titleist's 983e. actually it's similarity with the 983e made me go get one. patrick gallagher at gallagher golf said it was close (albeit with about 100cc more) and long. it's very workable, and imparts less spin (like the 983e) which was what i wanted. u can easily fade or draw the ball or just slam it straight, and the high kick shaft keeps trajectories low. in the past week i've driven the 9* club to 4 drives over 275m (one at 287m on a flat par5 - which shocked me and my coach).
Cons: the headcover. too tight for its head. i also ordered a 10.5* but got a 9* (but since i live in the far east i figured sending it back was just too much of a hassle). a 10.5* would've given me a high trakjectory shot and more carry which is what i want, as opposed to the only marginally more roll i have now with the low stingers.
Quality: construction is excellent. it loks like a really expensive club, altho the paint work looks toyish. the testa rossa like aerodynamic fins i have no feel of ... doesnt excite or bother me either way.

Review Summary: long club but i think you probably need to mate it with a shaft that fits you to get it to work. i have a swing which is avgs between 109-115mph. that gives me 250m (270yds) in good no-wind conditions. my 95mph swingspeed friend (who is a lower handicapped player than me) could only get this to go 220m (240yds). so the shaft is key.
