On 2005-06-03, Andrew Perry rated this Bang Bangenstein FU2 9* Driver a 5...(5606)

Purchase: I purchased a new 9* Bangenstein FU2 driver with an Aldila NVS 75 shaft on eBay for $135.
Pros: The club head is a deep green color that is different, yet not obnoxious enough to truly stand out in a crowd (see Bang's Mellow Yellow clubs). The shaft is a perfect fit for this club... great feel with a lot of control. The club looks great at address and is easy to control. I average drives that are 280-290 (in the fairway or close to it) versus the 250-260 with my Taylor Made R580 (in the fairway or in the woods). The price is right! Whomever pays retail for any regularly advertised club (TaylorMade, Ping, Nike, Cleveland, Titleist) has way too much money to blow. Bang makes excellent clubs and if they spent the millions in advertising the others did, they would probably be the leader in the market.
Cons: The only gripe I have is the original Bang headcover is a little funky... it has a zipper? Petty issue, I know.
Quality: Triple wall construction provides excellent feel and long straight penetrating ball flight. I didn't realize the extra distance until I arrived at my ball to make my second shot... then noticed I was 25-30 yards closer to the green than usual. This was the norm throught my round.

Review Summary: Great looking club. Appearance at address gives confidence. Misses don't vary too far off the intended target line and is 25-30 yards longer and straighter than my Taylor Made R580 driver. Bang provides a better club at a price that most everyone can afford. If you are interested in trying something new, I am confident that you will be as pleased as I am with this club. Be sure that you get a quality shaft with whatevr clubhead you use.
