Purchase: I bought the club second hand on ebay in Australia, it was wrongly described and nobody was bidding. I won it for $51-00 Australian.
The club is a Bang Mellow Yellow with a Penley John Daley graphite shaft regular Pros: The club feels great to swing, even the mishits keep on going.I was using an Adams Tight Lies 410 with a stock reg shaft and a Calloway Biggest Big Bertha before the Bang and the club has improved the distanceI now drive, when I get onto it I get about 30 yards better distance Cons: Nothing its a great club and shaft. Quality: Very well constructed, a highly polished face and a great look with the yellow head Review Summary: The club has improved my driving markedly
Great club.

Purchase: I bought this club from gallagher golf direct for $130. Pros: This is the freak nastiest club i have ever hit. Going from driving about 250 yards, too 300-330 in a day. I would highly recommend this club to golfers of all skill levels. Cons: nothing Quality: Beautifully made without an single flaw, and is practically indestructable. Review Summary: If you want to hit ridiculously long and dead straight, you want this club On 2004-04-23, Pete Bujnak rated this Bang Mellow Yellow a 4...(3493)
Purchase: Purchased at GallagherGolf.com for $126.00
Great because I got to put in a shaft I wanted. Wanted a longer ball off the tee. The new thing was getting a gigantic head, so I started looking. I wasn't playing well, like I used to, so I decided to go for a modestly priced long driver. However, because of this club, I went from a 12 handicap back to my 4-5 in less than a year. Pros: It is a very consistent club. Once I got used to having a longer shaft (46"), I was able to hit the ball very consistently. I am 6'2" 175lbs. and I carry this club 300-315 yards. I have the 9* loft, but have just purchased the 7.5* loft with a shaft that has a higher kick point. The reason is, I think the Mellow Yellow is a degree to a degree-and-a-half weaker. I would carry the ball 300 yards, but there would be zero foward roll. Cons: The degree is much weaker than stated. Make sure, especially if you swing quickly and get huge air time with other clubs, that you get a lower loft with a shaft that has a high kick point. I don't have the 7.5* yet, but a I am sure it will be longer than my 9*. The face is so HOT that with the correct tradjectory, you should be able to hit 330+ drives. Quality: No problems. I have hit hundereds and hundereds of balls with it. I swing very hard and have never had one problem with it. You can see every ball mark from your shots which is very helpful. You'll know when you hit it flush, though. The ball will not come down, and when it finally does, you'll be more interested in collecting long drive money than seeing where on the face you hit it.
Review Summary: Great overall club if you are looking for overall distance and consistency. The degree stated is 1-1.5 degrees weak. You can tear into the ball with no worry of damaging or breaking the club face. Bang! will replace any damaged heads, anyway. Great company. Purchase: I bought my Mellow Yellow driver off of Ebay. I researched on the net and hit every driver under the sun. After almost five months of testing and reading I bought the Mellow Yellow because it gave me the most "bang" for the buck. I paid $60 for my Mellow Yellow 420cc with a Paragon VTS shaft. Pros: It is by far the longest and easiest driver I have ever hit. The sweet spot is huge and very forgiving. My swing speed is very slow, around 80mph, but I still hit the ball 260-280 yards consistently and have hit several balls over 300 yards. With about a two club wind at my back I hit a ball 350+ at a local club, flying the green.
I also love the sound of this club. You may want to bring a set of ear plugs with you to the driving range. The sound of the ball springing off the face of this club is like that of a small caliber hand gun. Cons: As far as playability I have absolutely no complaints. If I have to state a negative it would be the grey, blue and red VST shaft with the big bright yellow head is a sight only an owner can love. Quality: The contruction is very solid. I have only played 10 rounds with this club but to this point it's holding up fine. Review Summary: In short, I LOVE THIS CLUB!! My golfing buddies have Big Bertha, Cobra and Taylormade and my low budget, ugly, component driver will out hit thier $300 pride and glories. At this point in life if I had to choose between my wife and my Mellow Yellow, well, I would miss my wife dearly. On 2003-08-22, cd rated this Bang Mellow Yellow a 4...(2146)
Purchase: gallagher golf for $144. Details: with 46" true temper bimatrix rxi s-flex & golf pride powerlinks. Pros: i've a 12-degree and i matched this with the bimatrix rxi which has a mid-low trajectory. this is designed such that i get optimal ball flight with ease of use. it's almost like teeing off a 3-wood (@ 13-degrees). because of its trajectory, shots are generally more accurate. i've a 109-115mph swingspeed so this fella -- coupled with nike distance balls which i use -- generally drives to 220-250 metres or abt 242 to 275 yards on 100 to 115mph swing speeds.
swing weight is E0 which is a tad heavy but i like the stability and predictability of the shaft. you can quite easily fade or draw the ball with a slight modification of the swing plane or simply get it going straight -- and i'm only just barely breaking 100, so you can imagine the easy playability of the club.
Cons: poor quality paint job. and compounding this, the painted yellow area scratches easily, revealing a greyish undertone. the mirror face while great new also scratches easily.
swingweight, becos of the grip & shaft is a very heavy E0.
sound it makes is more a twack than a bang. Quality: it's a huge head, altho the face is shallower than most 400+cc heads. and you get very solid head construction. the paint job - finishing of the yellow -- is poor tho and almost as if there is insufficient paint to coat it properly (you can almost see thru the colour, which is somewhat disappointing).
Review Summary: good value for money, especially with the bimatrix shaft combo. it's long and accurate. but the paint job sucks. gets a lot of stares and remarks though. so you'd better get a game to go with the head. On 2003-08-18, Re: Steve @ Bang rated this Bang Mellow Yellow a 1...(2109)
Purchase: $79 Mellow Yellow Head / Local Pro Shop Pros: The club is a good training aid to see the swing plane. Cons: I purchased this head - it imploded. The face caved in and splintered within the first 150 swings as stated above. Not knowing the club had splintered I went to whipe the grass from the clubface and sliced my thumb rather deep (metal / chrome shards are as sharp as a ginsu knife).
After looking for reviews, and finding one from 'Steve' trying to talk his way around bad reviews saying 'we stand by all of our merchandise' and 'just send it in through your local pro shop' I decided to try that.
After trying to contact bang, to get an official word on what to do with the worthless driver head, and getting no, and I mean NO response, I took the club back to the local golf pro shop I purchased it from.
They were extremely reluctant to even take custody of the driver saying that with bang and as of yet, they have not had any successfull warranty RMA's.
420cc Driver: $79
Grip: $8
Graphite Design Shaft: $75
Bang's Business Practices: Tasteless!
Quality: Junk. Read above. Review Summary: Think twice before ordering anything with the namebrand bang on it. On 2003-01-08, Jim rated this Bang Mellow Yellow a 5...(892)
Purchase: I purchased the assembled club from www.golf-components.com, with a 12 degree LH head, Innovative Comp SL shaft, and Golf Pride Player's Softie Grip for $135. Pros: I love the distance! I still have my Callaway Steelhead driver and my Integra TF360, but both are now in my closet collecting dust(I should probably sell the Callaway on eBay). The Mellow Yellow is much easier to hit (should be considering how big it is), and I've gained about 20-25 yards in distance.
The sound is great when you hit it stiff too. It took a while for me to get used to the look, but it definitely is an attention-getter. I've never had so many people come by asking about it. Cons: I sometimes have a tendency to hook my drives, but I think it has more to do with the shaft. If I had to do it again, I would have gone with a stiffer shaft, but other than this, everything has been great.
Wait, I take it back. Bang just came out with a new line of Mellow Yellow fairway woods, but they are currently RH only. Damn! I hate it when this happens! I couldn't wait for the LH version so I bought an Integra Tour 350 3 Wood with a Penley Graphite Light shaft. It sucks! It sounds horrible when you hit, feels awful, and is about 15 yards shorter than my steel-shafted Callaway Steelhead. As soon as Bang comes out with a LH fairway version of the Mellow Yellow, I'm going to switch club heads! Quality: Top notch. I've had several other component clubs as well as clubs from Callaway and Adams Golf; the quality of construction of the Mellow Yellow head is one of the best I've seen. www.golf-components.com also did a very good job in assembling everything.
Review Summary: Bottom Line: Great club that is easy to hit, sounds great, and goes far! On 2002-09-16, Stevie rated this Bang Mellow Yellow a 5...(555)
Purchase: I bought this club shipped to my door with a US Proforce 65 Stiff shaft for less than $120. I bought the club online from M & M golf. They also do custom shaft fittings and assembly for you and ship clubs 2 day air. I was very pleased with the transaction Pros: It is the best club I have ever hit and I used to use a 975D, Great Big Bertha, Orlimar Trimetal, Hawkeye Ti, Ping IST, Cleveland Tour Action Ti, Pure Spin, and Steel Head. This club/shaft combination has also give me about 25-30 more yards on my drive with a 71% fairway hit percentage. My longest drive the first time out was 290 yards. Cons: The first time I went to the range a couple of guys were chuckling about the size of the head. The bright yellow head doesn't help either. It kinda screams out "LOOK AT ME". Also I no longer have a headcover that fits...I have to use a paper bag to cover it Quality: Great construction, I got a custom shaft (UST Proforce 65 Stiff 45") with a Golf Pride handle custom built. Review Summary: First of all, anyone head looking to getting a new driver should look here first. With a whopping 420CC head, you can feel confident about swinging out of your shoes and socks. I just wish it could come in a different color. But if it did, it would be Mellow Yellow then, right?
