Purchase: I knew that Hogan made only good products, but I never put anything in my bag. When I saw that the Hogan pros were switching from their regular ball to this one, I knew there was something special about it. While I was checking out at Edwin Watts, I picked up a sleeve for around $12.00.
Pros: I didn't play with the ball initially. Any one would normally have a hard time prying the Pro V1 ball out of my hand, and so I left the Apex Tours in the bag for eight holes. On the ninth tee, I reached in my bag for a new ball and pulled out the Apex Tour. I hesitated for a second, thought about putting it back but reconsidered and then teed it up. I put my normal swing on it and POW!!!!!! The ball rose to a height I had never seen except when pros hit it. WOW!!! I had outdriven my playing partner by about thrity-five yards and I was dead center of the fairway. On this 385 yard hole, I had 95 yards into the green for an approach. I hit a sand wedge and the ball came off crisply again. It had bite, but not too much like I have come to expect from the Pro V1. Some times I have a tendency to back the Pro V1 off a green, but not the Apex Tour. It puts true and chips better than any other ball I've played.
Cons: I don't like losing the ball. The confidence I have gained from this ball makes me a little overzealous some times and I try to hit "Hero" shots. There really is nothing bad to say about this ball.
Quality: The quality is far beyond 90% of the balls on the market. The other 10% are similar - Pro V1, A10, Tour Premium LS, Nike, Nike TW, Nike DD. But I have never been satisfied completely with a ball. There was always some one thing that made me dislike a ball. Usually it was price, and this one is high, but I have learned to get past that. Some of the balls spin too much, and some not enough. The Apex Tour is just right. It is as durable as the Pro V1, which is about as durable as you can ask for in this ball category.
Review Summary: Just try it. Hit it. Put it in play and you will see what I mean. The ball is great. If you thought that the Pro V1 was the best the golfing world could expect, you haven't hit the Apex Tour.
