On 2005-07-18, Mr_Divots rated this Ben Hogan CS-3 10.5 Draw Aldila NV-H Stiff a 5...(5874)

Purchase: Purchased off Ebay for $190.00 delivered. I had demo'd one at my home club, but they wanted $300 for them. I was intrigued by the "draw" model, as like most people my misses tend to be right. After my demo on the range and a round on-course, I knew I had to have it.
Pros: This club is great if you hit a fade or fight a slice. I have never hit a draw consistantly with my driver, and this club allows me to do so. My misses right are far less severe, and are more like a "block" right than a slice. The proprietary Aldila NV70-H shaft is actually very good. Softer tip than aftermarket NV's. Probably plays more like an NVS (orange) shaft, in that it has a nice high launch angle and lower spin. Hogan said it has 4.0º torque, which is higher than what I was used to, but it definitely aids in closing the clubhead at impact. This club is as almost as long as my Ping G2, but more controllable. Despite being 40cc smaller than the G2, it feels about the same size.
Cons: Another great driver with a cheap clubhead cover. It is very awkward to get back on. This is without a doubt the loudest driver I have ever played. I don't mind because I'm getting great results with it, but it definitely has an aluminum baseball bat sound about it. Don't let that keep you from trying it though, as it is very easy to hit, and the sound soon grows on you!
Quality: Very good. Nothing stands out as being of poor quality or finish. I know some people are put off by the looks of this club, but I find it unique and attractive in it's own odd sort of way. From address it is all class! I was also pleasantly surprised by the performance of the stock shaft.

Review Summary: If you are in the market for a driver, put these on your demo list. I decided to look past the somewhat odd apperance of this club, and I'm glad I did. For $190 it was a steal. The draw-biased weighting definitely works and probably would benefit a lot of people. My driving had been suffering of late and this club helped bring it around. A club won't fix severe swing flaws, but this one helps make misses more manageable. Highly reccommend it!

Went to the range yesterday to practice. Took the new 9.5* driver to test it out. I hit it a lot better than I figured I would with that factory insta
