Purchase: Bought on ebay for $491
Pros: Forged irons with great feel, the setup looks great and they feel soooo good with flush contact. Distance is about 5-8 yards futher than my MacGregor blades or PCB cavity backs. With off center hits only lost 4-5 yards and was still on the green. I was able to work the ball left or right without difficulty. 200 yard 3 iron out of 1" rough was 10 yards short but on the green. First round today was my career low (even par from the back tees)!
Cons: I thought I would have trouble with the set shifting from blade (E(PW),9,8) to the cavity backed (7-3) but the setup looks so good, I forgot about it and hit great shots. There is a bottom ridge in the grip I was not used to but by the end of the round it felt comforting. Nothing about the clubs did is dislike!
Quality: Quality is first rate, the best clubs I have ever played.

Review Summary: If you have a chance to play these clubs, don't pass it up. My search is over! Clubs I have played MacGregor PCB, MacGregor 1025M muscle-back blades, Titleist 690.CB, Mizuno MP-33, MP-30.

Purchase: Purchased on Ebay for $599. These appealed to me in a way similar to the Nike Combo's, a set that I had tried by hated the shaft. The Hogan Apex #4 steel shaft has always been a favorite of mine, as it is very similar in Flex to the Rifle 5.5. Handicap has settled in around 8 and I want to go to the next level. Set is 2* upright. plus 1/2. I'm 6'1".
Pros: These have the buttery feel of other Hogan irons, similar in the long and mid irons to the Apex Edge Pro, but with a more precise feel for distance control in the short irons. The long and mid irons are if anything easier than the Pro's and the set seems to play a half club longer for me, with greater accuracy. Very easy to create fades and draws even with the short irons. Superb control of trajectory and distance. Chipping is fun again.
Cons: I've never been wild about Hogan grips. Slightly small and like most tour velvet style grips, get slippery fast.
Quality: First class Hogan quality as always. Don't fear a loss of quality since Hogan went to Callaway. Nothing has deteriorated.

Review Summary: Great irons for a single digit to low teens handicap. The short irons are as easy to hit as your sand wedge and are forgiving enough if you are around the sweet spot. Mid and Long irons are appropriate for any mid handicap. Great quality and the feel that will help you learn why shots work or don't and the reward of the sweet sensation will have you trying to recreate that with every swing. Bottom line, don't be afraid of these if you are around a 14 or better and find a spot somewhere near the sweet spot. Distance loss on mishits is less than you would expect for blades. Thin shots do feel like blades, but carry well.
