Purchase: Barnes & Noble for 12 dollars. i was looking for something to help me consistently hit more greens in regulation
Pros: Thourogh descriptions of ben hogans swing. trust me, his swing works. ive never hit better long game shots.
Cons: He does teach a very weak grip. some people may not like this. it doesnt bother me at all because i do fight occasional hooks and strong draws.
Quality: its a book, i guess the pages are in the right order. none of them are upside down at least

Review Summary: great book for anyone looking for more consistency in their long game. i am also currently reading dave pelz's short game bible. ill put in a review on that also when im done

Purchase: This little gem cost me $12 at a local Barnes & Noble Booksellers store. I had read several articles online that suggest this book as a must read for golfers at any level of their game and I'm very pleased with the purchase.
Pros: This book sticks with and explores the fundamentals like no other. I've never had the opportunity for lessons and would always take advice from anyone that gives it. This lead to inconsistency in my game when all I was trying to do was make solid contact. The Five Lessons book by Ben Hogan really works to improve your grip, stance and posture, takeaway (first part of the swing), down swing (second part of the swing) and includes a shortened high level summary of the key points to these lessons for quick review.
Cons: Probably the only thing, and this is really nit-picking, is that the book teaches one grip for everybody. Ben Hogan had a tendency to hook once in a while and the grip displayed in the book is a little more weak than I would like personally. I subscribe to the teachings of others that insist a strong grip is what is required nowadays.
Quality: There are 127 pages in this tiny book, but for $12 it has hundreds of dollars worth of lesson material. I think it's of decent quality - only wish it was available in hardback.

Review Summary: Again, for $12 you can't beat this little book if you're just starting off or you are a seasoned golfer who just needs reminded of the fundamentals sometimes. I know more than once I've started the season off on fire and then my game breaks down in the later months because I start forgetting the fundamentals. This book will find a place in my bag so that I can refer to it on slow days on the course or while I'm waiting to tee off. Great material and a great read.
