On 2003-07-29, MrPutter rated this Bettinardi Baby Bee Putter Proto a 5...(1912)

Purchase: I bought this putter from tksputters.com. I bought it because this is the putter Jim Furyk used to win the US Open. I paid $800.00. There were 30 of these made. 15 in a flat black chrome finish with white lines and 15 in gold finish with black lines. Jim Furyk used a gold one but I like the black and I prefer white lines.
Pros: Normally I am a traditionalist when it comes to golf. I would buy a putter like this only under rare conditions. It is the easiest putter I have ever used to swing and align. I normally do not like aluminum, but this does not feel like aluminum. Probably because it is milled from one big piece. It sets up very easily and comfortably. It also has that Bettinardi feel, like the best. If you can't aim with this putter you might as well quit golf. It puts the Futura and the Two Ball to shame. I used a SC putter for years but they have gone too commercial and the quality does not come close anymore. I am sure this putter will go into production as soon as possible as they sold out quickly.
Cons: Nothing
Quality: It is milled out of one piece of aluminum in the shape of an hourglass. It has a double bend face balanced heal shaft with a white 'tour limited' headcover and grip. The head weighs 360 gram, tour weight. 33" in length. The head is the same as a Hogan Big Ben only 1/3 smaller. Six holes are drilled through the sides of the putter to give the "honeycomb" effect. Some holes are ony partially drilled. The face has the patented Bettinardi honey comb finish. Says, "First Run"and "Baby Bee" on the sole. Bettinardi on the back.
