On 2007-01-28, Drew51 rated this Bobby Jones Golf Ortiz 10.5 Driver a 4...(7600)
Details: Club head is 440 cc, and is constructed of green in color composite materials on the top and Rusian titanium on the face. And a matching green YS shaft.
Purchase: I am a die hard Bobby Jones fan, and would rather watch old film of him playing or providing instruction than anyone else. So my dearest knowing I was in the market for a new big headed driver saw the new Jesse Ortiz Bobby Jones driver and purchased it new for three hundred dollars on ebay for me for Christmas.
Pros: Wow, what a great looking golf club. The design is a classic and when they advertised it for 'Discriminating golfers'. it is a seller to lovers of the game like me. The head was 440 CC not too big to fit in my Fuzzy duck head cover, and it comes with a great looking classic nitted sock head cover green and tan with Bobby Jones signature on it. The club head has permanate weights in the sole, heel for stability and a large bright one in the center. A real beauty of a club, and it does make ball go far. I hit some drives near 300 yards and the soud is truly almost like a real wood.
Cons: When the club was purchased it advertised that it was made up of a multi materal head including extra hard Russian titainium. She who purchased it did not know this meant that the head had a comp. top. It felt very heavy as soon as I picked it up and the stiff shaft felt more like a tour stiff with a high kick point. When I took it to the range the first thing I noticed was that it hit more like an 8 or 9 degree than a 10.5, very hard to get into the air.
Quality: Multi material head construction, very good YS shaft. I think the lightness of the composite top and heavier Russian titainum makes the club feel akward in your hands.
Review Summary: This club is a beauty, but I believe those with faster swing speeds would benefit more from this club. It was definately not for me but I would recommend it to better players.
