Purchase: I am a golf equipment junkie, my staff suggested starting a counceling group so I could stand up and say "I have not purchased a new golf club today". Therapy was going well, I had purchased a Taylormade R510 and I was playing reasonably well, however, I was cutting the ball a little and this is exactly what I told the Pro. Seeing a weakness in my armour, he quickly suggested I try the MAC Driver, to which I replied "I would rather wear Plus Fours than turn up at the club with that funny looking club", inceditally I forgot to mention, I am a 'name snob', so Callaway, Taylormade, Ping OK Burrows! Who? Well I had nothing better to do and I hadn't purchased any golf equipment for a few months, OK weeks, so I thought there was nothing to lose. £339.00 later, yes you guessed I had my new MAC 350cc Driver.
Pros: As mentioned, I have had them all, I think my average was two drivers per year and one set of irons per year, 1.5 putters per year and god only knows how many fairway metals or combo clubs - therefore I feel pretty well qualified to say that this golf club is by far the best thing since sliced bread. It isn't longer than the ERC or the R510, however, due to it hitting the ball straight and not losing distance from off-center hits, the ball does seem to average out at being longer. The trajectory is great, the feel is excellent the noise, well, I know it has been said that the noise is a little different, but hey, what would expect from a club that is so different.
Cons: So what do I dislike about the greatest club I have ever hit? Well I suppose in the ideal world it would have Callaway or Taylormade written on it somewhere. I know it is petty, but the name is the only thing I don't like, to the point I have had to replace the headcover with a gorilla headcover, that way people are concentrating on that rather that this weird club that nobody has ever heard of.
Quality: My personal fitting session resulted in me ending up with a 350cc, draw enhancing head, with the softie winn grip and the Harmon shaft, hence the extra £30.00, but it was worth it.
Review Summary: It took 8 days to get the club to me, you wouldn't believe how long that 8 days seemed to me. Anyway, back in my support group and I am pleased to say "I have not bought any new golf equipement today".
