Purchase: Received a free 2-ball sleeve of this Callaway HX Hot Bite at a Callaway Demo event. A box of dozen sells for about $30.
Pros: I've never tried the HX Hot golf balls, but when this Bite version came out, I was curious. I like playing the HX Tour56, and was looking for something at a lower cost. This HX Hot Bite ball is really great around the greens. Ball flies up on the short irons and sits nicely with a check and it really does BITE the green. I had a bad low-flying topped shot to the green with a PW. The ball landed 3/4 into the flat green, checked, 1-hop, and sat down where it hopped. My partner was amazed at my luck as we both thought my ball would bounce and roll off the green. The performance of the Bite ball really impressed me. Putting is really soft and quiet as compared to the HX Tour56. This Bite ball is comparable to the Precept Laddie X and Nike Power Distance Power Soft ball, except the Bite ball checks a lot better.
Cons: As with any Cally and tour balls, the cover does get scuffed up with full wedge shots.
Quality: Great construction and quality.
