Purchase: i got these balls at k-mart of all places!!
they were having a blowout sale and actually put these balls out there for 14.99 a dozen. HALF off got my attention and i bought the remaining 4 dozen they had. Pros: as with other callaway balls i think theyre fantastic. i believe calllaway is FAR AND AWAY the best when it comes to balls.
this ball is soft, has plenty of feel, has good durability for a 3 piece ball, and flies straight off the long clubs. Cons: it could be a little longer, but considering the price i cant complain!!
its basically a hx tour with a LITTLE less distance and spin. Quality: as always fantastic. very durable considering how it plays. Review Summary: i would highly recommend this ball if you can find it at a discounted price. at the full retail of 29.99 i think most would be better served to pay the extra 10 bucks and get the tours, but at a discounted price these balls are great.

Details: great ball. i had been playing the hx hots or hx tours (when i needed extra spin) but found these on sale so i thought i'd give them a whirl.
Purchase: got these balls at target for HALF price. paid 14.99 a dozen so despite the fact that i hadnt yet played them i stocked up with a few dozen. who could resist at that price? Pros: pretty much everything. consensus opinion is that titleist is #1, but i think callaway has them by a mile. like others in the callaway line, this ball is long, durable, AND provides plenty of spin. close to the same distance as i got with the hots, and about the same spin as i got with the tours for a much lower price. Cons: you could say they scuff easily, but its all relative.
compared to a 2-piece distance ball they DO scuff easily.
compared to other high end high spin balls these balls are actually quite durable. Quality: as usual with callaway the construction and quality is second to none.
Review Summary: this is a ball i purchased simply because of price, but i will likely continue to use them even at full price.
theyre less money than the tours and pretty much the same ball.
like i said, i found that i got about the same distance as i did with the hots, and ALSO got as much spin (or darn near) as i did with the tours. bottom line is instead of going back and forth with the other 2 balls i can use this all the time. great ball!! Purchase: I paid 30 dollars at East Morlin Golf Course.
I had heard some great reviews from this web site so I thought why not? I wanted a ball that wasent as expensice as the HX Tour but worked just as good. Pros: Everything! It goes really far, yet still feels soft. When you hit it with your mid irons it feels great. Aroung then green it spins just as good as the pro V1. With putts in rolled true and felt nice. But this ball is best in the wind. It just cuts thru the wind like there is no tomoro. Cons: Like all golf balls, it dosent flote. Quality: It is made really nice. I swing at about 87 mph ( i have had my swing speed checked at a golf shop) and the ball was just the same after 18 as it was when I bought it. Review Summary: If you have tried the HX Tour but dont like paying 50 bucks a dozen, or just are want to try a new ball try these! On 2005-07-15, Mad L.A. Purchase: $26.99 at International Golf in Woodland Hills, CA.
I had been playing all sorts of balls lately - I had played the Bridgestone B330 a lot but thought they were too expensive and wanted something similar. Pros: I think I found my ball. These are just like the B330, but cheaper. The spin characteristics are about the same as the B330 or Pro-V, but feels more solid - the difference in the core design. You can hit down on it crisply and it will spin a LOT. Also this new HX Red for 2005 cuts through the wind beautifully. The ball holds the line really well INTO the wind! An excellent ball to manipulate left or right. Cons: Urethane cover. I know a lot of the manufacturers are using this soft cover that feel sticky and grabs nicely - unforunately, if you crunch down to give it a lot of spin, the cover gets bite marks and scratches very easily. Quality: Solid ball! The sticky feel of the cover reminded me of the Strata balls from a few years ago. Review Summary: If you think you're spending too much money on the Pro-Vs and B330 types of balls, the HX Red is the perfect replacement. I could not tell the difference in feel or playability. The Red flies much better in the wind than those other balls. For the price, you can't get a better ball with the same quality and characteristics. Purchase: I purchased a dozen of them at a local discount department store for $30. I bought them because I was not happy with the durability of the ball I'd been playing before, the Nike TA-2 SPN. Pros: Everything! It's distance was as good or better than every ball I'd played before, rolled well in the fairways, stopped on a dime on the greens, even with a bit of backspin if I was using the right club. Extremely soft and durable, not a single cut on the ball after a full round. Cons: No dislikes whatsoever. Quality: Worth every penny for its durability, and its superior performance on the course. Review Summary: An absolutely wonderful ball that fits my game like a glove with its great distance and tremendous feel on and around the green. I'd recommend it to everyone! Purchase: Picked up a sleve to test out at the local golf shop for $7.25. Pros: Interesting dimple pattern, I was able to get some great distance with these, and they held the green well. Cons: At the end of 18 holes, I'd managed to lose all three. One to a watery death, the others to the rough. (sigh.)
Quality: Excellent quality, only scuffed up when attacked by a cart path. As with most good balls, sinks like a rock. Review Summary: A good ball, but I don't think it's worth the money given the number of balls I've been losing while getting my golf groove back on. If you're a consistent fairway player, and you like to pitch to the green, they're great.
If you've got some rust on your swing and get a little wild, consider something cheaper. On 2004-03-10, Echo 419 rated this Callaway HX Red a 5...(3058)
Purchase: I got this from a friend for a B-day present, he got it at a local pro-shop. Pros: Great distance, and fantastic feel. The best thing about these is the ROOOLLLLLLL. Lotsa roll. Just last month these balls turned a short par 3 tee shot into an easy birdie putt. I am very cynical about balls because most of them don't give you noticeable improvement. However these are one of only two balls that I have noticed an immediate improvement over different balls. Cons: Pretty expensive, $40 bucks a dozen. But you get every penny worth! Quality: Top quality, noticeable distance, feel, and roll improvement. Review Summary: Great for any level. If you demand bigtime control, this might not be the right ball, but if you are mid to high handicapper in need of great distance, this is your ball. Purchase: i got these balls for my birthday and went golfing the next day. Pros: hands down, the best ball ever. its long, low, soft and it stops on a dime. Cons: there is nothing bad about this ball. Quality: i used 1 ball 3 rounds before the paint began to stain, you cant destroy this ball!!!!!!! Review Summary: go and buy this ball. Purchase: Purchased a sleeve at Roger Dunn's Golf Store.$9.00 Pros: I've played many different ball, this ball has some very strong characteristics:It plays longer than any ball and is very soft around the greens and putts lights out. There is very little movement .ball stays dead on line .Great ball !!! Cons: Distance and feel....... Quality: Review Summary: On 2002-08-22, Kevin Clary rated this Callaway HX Red a 5...(432)
Purchase: I purchased a dozen at Pro Golf Discount for 44.99. I have heard raving reviews about this ball so I decided to try it myself. Pros: The ball gave me excellent distance off the tee and an even better ball flight. The trajectory was unbelievable. It was much lower than other premium balls. I had been playing the Pro V and I have found that this ball has a tendency to balloon in the wind. The HX Red was sensational in the wind. It stayed down perfectly, no matter how hard you hit it. It also, held the green wonderfully. It doesn't back up with wedges and short irons like the Pro V, but it drops and stops. This is the best ball I have ever played. It will be a permanent fixture in my bag. Cons: The only thing I do not like about the Callaway HX Red ball is the price. $44.99 is an awful steep price to pay. If they lowered the price, I believe more amateurs and weekend warriors would play the ball. Quality: I love the HX design of the ball.....the dimples really make the ball do what they say it will. The golf ball was also very durable. I played a whole round with one ball. Review Summary: This is an outstanding golf ball designed for mid-to-low handicappers. It is by far the best golf ball I have ever played. It gives you outstanding distance off the tee and wonderful green holding abilities. The wind does not affect this ball at all. I would recommend it to anyone. On 2002-08-22, Kevin Clary rated this Callaway HX Red a 5...(433)
