On 2006-10-09, dingly dangler rated this Callaway FT-3 a 5...(7461)

Details: UST V2 65 gram stiff shaft, 9.5 loft. 9.5 tour.

Purchase: No ebay for the driver. Paid $399 including the fitting in Tappan Golf in NY state.
Pros: I'm writing this for some jerk off hacker named Nee Poole who fancies himself some sort of 'pro' and can't get more than 190 yards out of the FT-3. I'm guessing he filed his review after a few pints and a lousy round when he realized that good clubs cost more than a few bucks and a big mouth. The FT-3 is long as well as forgiving. I was about to purchase the Titleist 905S when the fitter told me to ignore the sound and try out a few different shafts with the FT-3. I did. I have two Titleist fairway clubs and the new hybrid but went with the FT-3 for the forgiveness on off center shots towards the toe. Perfect shots with the 905S are the same distance with the same shaft but those towards the toe slice and are about 20 yards less than the FT-3. After one round, I got used to the cork sound the FT-3 has.
Cons: Like most of the 2006 460 head drivers out there, they are visually noisy and flashy. That's why I like Titleist. They are always understated. Most 460 heads look like your swinging a clown foot. But what are you going to do?
Quality: Sole scratches show up quicker.

Review Summary: The deeper face on the FT-3 gives the impression at set up that your not swinging a pancake for your first shot. It's a long driver with many shaft options. The pride of Ireland or England or wherever that 'pro' hack Nee Poole resides should take that whiney prick out for a few lessons. If he can't get more than 190 yards out of the FT-3, it means he's either a complete hack or was so drunk that he put the FT-3 headcover on his putter.

Details: 9.5 degrees loft, Neutral weight, Aldila NVS 65 Stiff shaft

Purchase: I switched from the Titleist 905T that I had been using for about a year. The little circular 'acoustic sole plug' from my clubhead went flying off! Yeah, it broke off, nowhere to be found. So I needed a new Driver, so I decided to change to the FT-3, because my irons are Callaways too. I paid $360 at a local store in the San Fernando Valley, CA.
Pros: I hit the FT-3 just as well as I did the 905T. I used to hit really high balls with the 905T to about 270 yards. The 905T had the YS-6 shaft in it - but I never used to get any roll. I really liked that YS-6 shaft, because it has low-torque and a really solid feel, and easy to control. Anyways - I was told that the Aldila NVS 65 Stiff shaft on this FT-3 will help me get a better mid trajectory and more roll, and I suppose it's a little bit lower than my usual solid high-flyers - but I guess I just still somehow manage to hit them high. I'm thinking that I should have bought the 8.5 degree - but then again, I hit this one solid to about 270 and a little bit of a roll, and it's always in play somewhere down there, so I am overall happy with it. You definitely do not need to go crazy with the club - just let your normal swing come through and follow through to your swing finish and the ball will stay somewhere straight to keep you in play. Heel shots tend to lose 15 yards or so, as it wants to fade a little bit, but it does come back in to the middle.
Cons: The FT-3 has the worst sound in the world, if you are used to the nice clink of other drivers - the FT-3's sound is kind of plastic and 'plucky' I'd say - definitely not that crashing, cranking, metal sound I hear from so many others like the Pings or Taylor Mades.
Quality: High quality as always from Callaway. Lovely liquid shine finish on the top of the club. The shaft feels nicely in tune with the clubhead. The swing weight feels kind of strange and that's probably because I switched from the 905T, but I like the way the FT-3 feels exactly the same as my irons when I put it down - thanks to the same grip. You just can't go wrong with Callaway, now, can you?

Review Summary: It's a Callaway club. It's not meant to be difficult to hit the ball. To be sure, it does have an unconventional feel and look to it - but then Callaway have thrived on that - and once you get used to it after about a bucket, you won't go back. Yep, a bucket is all you need. But, I have played a few rounds with it and it's nice to not to have to think so much about the drive, to nor have to worry about where it's going to go. And with just a little more decisive control in to the shot, you can make the ball move to where you want it. The club is worth every penny and more. But please do try out there other standard shafts and club face choices - you can make the club more custom suited to yours - and that's the great thing about this club.

Details: Graphite shaft, 9.5 degree loft.

Purchase: I bought this club because my friend over in england said it's the best club ever. I went to my local golf club and bought in the pro shop there for $399.99 i thought this was a lot but if it is that good im prepared to pay that.
Pros: NOTHING (apart from the headcover)
Cons: Shaft, grip, price, head so just about everything.
Quality: On a scale of one to ten ten being the best one being the worstit would be:Constructionequals -9999999999999999999999999999Qualityequals-9999999999999999999999999999999999

Review Summary: DON'T BUY THIS CLUB!!!!! better of buying a junior club!!! Don't do it!!! One club i would recomend is the MD golf players super strong driver ten times better and half the price.

Details: 460cc, 9.5 deg Nuetral bias, Aldila NVS 65-S

Purchase: Aquired this driver at Golf Country in Bangor, ME. Traded in a few old clubs and got 150$ off. I was looking to replace my old Cleveland Launcher 460 so i tried out some new drivers in the simulator, imediately realized this driver was longer, and straighter than my old driver, and i loved the feel vs. other drivers that have come out recently, not to mention a very nice looking club, which gives me confidence looking down at it.
Pros: I love the feel, hard to describe but when you flush it, it feels soft yet very solid, almost like a persimmon wood. Also like the fact that it hits it long, and seems to be very forgiving. My usual miss is a toe ball and those come right back to the middle and don't lose too much distance.
Cons: The sound, a distinct 'THWOCK', like no other driver i have heard. Sound for me is not something i woryy about, but i know a lot of people like their driver to make a nice sound, so something to check out if you are one of those people. Also sotck grip is not a lll that tacky.
Quality: First rate construction, as with all Callaway golf equipment.

Review Summary: Bottom line is I love this driver, and it is great for me and my swing, but it might not be for you, try everything before you buy.

Details: 10 degree, aldila shaft stiff nvs. orange color

Purchase: I purchases a 460 fusion ft-3 callaway fusion driver from golf universe in Kennewick WA. I paid 399.00 for it and had no intentions of buying a new driver but when I tried it I fell in love with the accuracy and distance it gave me right away.
Pros: I have just recently purchased a callaway fusion FT-3 460 driver and I am extremely impressed by it. I recently had a king cobra sz 460. I really liked it but the callaway just blew it away. I could not believe the difference in drivers. I gained about 30 yards more on average in driving distance. I play alot better with my long irons because I always had to use them in the past but know with my new driver I am seeing that I need practice with my short irons because I am having to use them more.
Cons: Nothing I like everything about it.
Quality: Very well constructed and not a loud sound when you hit it sweet like with the kind cobra. It is more of a wood sound.

Review Summary: No final comments just really satisfied with Callaway fusion driver FT-3

Purchase: Paid $399.00 at my local golf course.
Pros: Club sets up well, and is easy to look at. Has a very nice feel, Nice easy tempo and this club will do all the work. very straight, and long. Makes a solid sound off the tee, mis hits still seem to stay in-play. Ball fires off of club face!
Cons: I have no dislikes
Quality: Construction and quality seem to be first rate.

Review Summary: As a relatively new player, I am still working on my tempo. This club will help me control my tempo, and it will do the job. We have all heard it...."Let the club do the work", and this one does.

On 2005-09-23, The Bandit rated this Callaway FT-3 a 4...(6229)

Purchase: I purchased the club from Nevada Bobs in Lytham St Annes and paid £200.
Pros: Although I am still in the honeymoon period with the club (2 rounds so far!!). This club has virtualy eradicated my slice. I am now getting a penetrating low straight drives. The looks and the feel of the club are also excellent. I am hitting it about 250-270.
Cons: The sound is a litte odd a bit like a cork popping out of a bottle but once you get used to it its fine. I would advise trying the club before you buy. I usualy play with a regular 10 degree club. However after 25 high slices in a row I had to try the stiff 9 degree draw option which went perectly straight, most of the time!! Also mis hits off the bottom of the club go nowhere. You need to tee it high!!
Quality: Excellent as always from Callaway.

Review Summary: A bit expensive, but it has cured my slice!! Probably the easiest driver I have ever hit.
