Details: Callway FT-5, Fujikura 150 stiff shaft, 10 degree loft.
Purchase: I went to the driving range and tried several drivers in my effort to find game improvement driver to help me achieve my ambition of being a single HC player. Price i couldn't recall exactly but somewhere close to $375. Pros: Very forgiving makes it easy to use. It does what it says : draw biased. Distance is long since the ball seems to never stop rolling after landing in 200-225 m zone. Ball flight is moderate, not too high. Cons: couldn't find one except the price which is a bit more expensive among the mid-price drivers. Oh yes... , if i have to come up with one, then i would say it's the grip. with such quality and performance, it should also carry better than average grip. Quality: The feel, the sound, the appearance promises quality. its design of the head seems to conceal its 460 cc volume. Review Summary: My handicap has been around 14 - 16 for the past few years and despite my obsession, i had big doubt if i could go any lower, given my inconsistent and moderate-distance tee-off. With my newly found FT-5, i might be ending my pain and suffering sooner and soon be embarking on my journey of becoming single HC golfer. My 7 years experience in teing off had never given me the feel, forgiveness, consistency, performance, result, satisfaction and confidence like FT 5 does to me, not even during my best mood and fittness. Thanks FT-5.

Purchase: Purached this club on a whim at the Golf Galaxy in N.C. I paid 425.00 plus tax... Couldnt find this setup on ebay. Pros: Well let me start by saying WOW!!! Im a loyal Titleist player..(was) I was bored so I decided to go to the Golf Galaxy Store here in N.C. one day. I played the Titleist 905T and decided I wanted to try the New Titleist 905R.. So I stepped up on the Golf simulator. I dont put much faith into the simulators. I was hitting quite well that day, and was driving the Ball with the Titleist R about 270-280 on the simulator +/- 10 yards, so I was about the same distance with the 905T so wasnt impressed. But on a whim I decided to see what all the fuss was about with the Callaway FT-i, the square one. CRAP!!! The pro there saw my swing and recomended I try one more club, the Callaway FT-5. So I did... WELL, let me tell you, I was FLYING the ball 270-280, and rolling it to 300+... No matter what the actual distance was, I was flying the Calaway as far as hitting the Titlest...I WAS SOLD!! It Played the same on course, and I added abot 18 yards..HARD to believe!!! BUT TRUE!!! Off center hits fly amaizingly straight with minimal distance loss. The sound is a bit hard to get used to compaired to my Titleist, but I'll deal with it. Cons: I love the unit..The sound is loud, but it comes with the composite techonology. The headcover is cheap for a 400 driver...How about a zipper??? Quality: Solid construction. Review Summary: Buy it!!! No matter what your game you'll love it...However, I have a friend wih a FT-3 and he hits his better than my new FT-5...Try both, you might save a few hundred dollars. Details: FT-5, Fujikura E150 fit-on, 9*, Draw.
Purchase: Tried to find this particular set up on Ebay, but no shot. 9*, Draw bias, E150 Fujikura Fit-On Siff. Bought it at a Golf Store. $429.00. Pros: This driver is the most forgiving yet workable driver ever. I was a Titleist freak, but thought I’d try something new. So I went on the golf simulator with my 905T 9.5* Fujikura 757 Stiff, and hit a bunch of shots about 265-85... Then tried the new 905R looking for more distance, and got it. 275-85...So on a whim I tried the FT-5, I saw the pros bombing it out there and I thought Id try it...WELL...270 CARRY, 295-305 total yards..no kidding...even if the simulator is off by 10 yards, it off by 10 yards across the board, so no matter how you cut it, I gained at least 10-15 yards with no change..It sounds like a cannon when you connect with it. The ball flight is mid when hit perfectly, and a little high when missed, which is great, because when you miss you put side spin, which causes slices, or hooks. The higher flight takes the spin off and lessens the miss hit...THIS CLUB ROCKS..I WILL BE WEARING A CALLAWAY HAT FROM NOW ON...I know why Phil switched from Titleist to Callaway... Cons: headcover lacks anything special..a zipper maybe... Quality: Solid construction Review Summary: BUY IT, YOU WILL IT IT FURTHER THAN ANYTHING ELSE!!! Details: 10 degrees of loft , draw bias, stiff Fujikura Shaft (stock)
Purchase: Like everybody else, I've tried EVERY name brand driver out there. The last driver I had in my bag was the Ping Rapture (9 degrees)with the Aldila VS Proto stiff flex. I like the Ping but had trouble working the ball right to left on a consistent basis. My normal ball flight is straight or a slight fade. I paid $429.00 at Roger Dunn's for this driver. Saw several pro's with this driver in their bags at several tournaments so I decided to try it. Pros: Played with it for the first time at my home course and hit ALL the fairways,14 of 18 (excluding the par 3 holes). Ball flight is straight or with a slight draw. Distance is equal or better (because of the slight draw) than the Ping. The noise is not distracting. Appears slightly closed at address so I naturally squared the club when addressing the ball. Ball flight is not too high even when I hit it into the wind. Cons: They didn't have any FT-5 drivers with other shafts in stock. I understand Callaway have the opti-fit shaft fitting system at some golf outlets. Thank God, the Fujikura stock shaft seems to work for me. I replaced other drivers with the Rombax or Aldila shafts. I don't think I'll change this one for now.
Quality: As always Callaway puts out a good quality product. I like this better than the FT-3 driver which I tried in the past. The grip seems adequate (honeycombed design and slightly ribbed). The headcover isn't too loud in color and can easily be removed and replaced on the driver head. Review Summary: I played with all the TaylorMade drivers except the new Superquad and Burner, Mizuno, Cleveland Launcher and Hi Bore, Titleist, Exotics, Ping (G-5 and Rapture). The FT-5 is the easiest to hit so far. Golf Digest also rated this the highest in the 2007 club test. I hope you have the opportunity to try this driver. I took a chance with the price: however, Roger Dunns have a 90 day return policy.
