On 2004-12-07, MD Mike rated this Callaway GBB II 380cc firm flex a 5...(4827)

Purchase: Purchased this from Washington Golf - sale price of $119 is $110 cheaper than anywhere but buying used on ebay. I looked at this club for a while, but experience has taught me that ALL clubs end up at a deep discount soon enough.
Pros: Club is very consistent off the tee, meaning less tension and more confidence at address. Advertised to be draw biased, which I have found to be true, my ball tends to go slightly left. Clubhead shape is deeper rather than wider, so the hot spot is large and easy to find. I hit this driver perhaps 5 to 7 yards longer than my last driver, but the BIG upgrade is in fairways hit - roughly 1.5 more fairways per round. Distance loss from miss hits is not as severe as with other drivers.
Cons: I have not found anything to complain about. I read many reviews prior to purchase, the only complaint I found was that some players hit it a little too far left. They attributed this to the stock shaft and found that a shaft upgrade cured the problem (the stock shaft works well for me).
Quality: Materials, workmanship and detailing well above average. Appearance is top notch, real eye candy, this is something Callaway understands. Single gripe - the grip. Most clubs come with so-so grips, including the GBB II, I changed the grip at purchase.

Review Summary: Great club, I have found it to perform exactly as advertised (consistent slight draw). I have played with a at least 4 GBB II 380cc owners, all sung it's praises which helped make my buying decision easy. One reviewer on this site mentioned that they they hit it right(?!?!), but half the time that I attempt a cut shot it simply goes straight as an arrow, so perhaps this is a swing issue, NOT a club issue. At $119, I believe this is a spectaculargreat deal.
