Purchase: Bought second hand (almost new, looked like it had only been used for one or two rounds) from golf shop early 2005 for $250 AUD (approx 200 USD).
Pros: Large sweet spot. Forgiving, hits at least 200 metres (230/240 yards) even on a poorly hit drive.
Cons: Flaws in my swing are exhaggerated. I slice more with this club than my previous driver, but trade off is more consistent good distance than my previous driver. I can hit longer with other drivers, but my worst with other drivers is much worse than my worst with Great Big Bertha II.
Quality: It's around 40 rounds old now, and apart from standard scratches here and there is holding up very well.

Review Summary: Very happy, I think it is a great club for your weekend hacker as the sweet spot is so large that it's very forgiving even for a poor swing (mine is very outside-in at contact). The size of the sweet spot allows me flexibility depending on the hole, and is almost like have two different drivers. If I tee the ball up high, I lose distance but gain accuracy. Tee it up low and I get a bigger slice, but more distance.

Purchase: I acquired this after the crown of my King Cobra driver was scratched up to the point it was actually disturbing to look at. I tried it in a simulator at an Edwin Watts store on vacation and liked it a lot. I wound up buying it at a reduced price (at the time) for $260.
Pros: It has a very generous head that is tolerates mis hits. Six months ago I replaced the stock shaft with a Grafalloy ProLaunch 65 regular flex. This was only following a detailed visit to a club fitter where my swing characteristics were analyzed by a computer. The new shaft is stiffer with a lower kick point than that of the stock shaft. This increased my driver distance by 35 yards! I hardly ever worm burn with this new combination.
Cons: Typical of all Callaway woods, this club lacks that crisp crack on good ball contact. It is more of a "clank" noise that takes some time to get adjusted to. That being said the hot face more than makes up it in distance.
Quality: No issues with constuction and again, the new shaft gave this clube a new lease on life. The head, while big at 415 CC is distinguished looking and elegant at address.

Review Summary: This 10 degree driver with an upgraded shaft routinely takes me straight out to 285 yards on average. With the prices coming down on the the GBBII's,...... Go out and buy on and then find the right shaft for your swing. Most likely you'll be in the horse race for less than $300. You'll have a driver that will provide some serious memories.

Purchase: I paid $100CDN after trade in of my old driver and also because it was a demo driver before.
Pros: I like the stiff shaft in it and i am longer and straighter than my ping Si3 and it looks better at adress and the sound is much more appealing. since it has a through-shaft shots off the two still stay straight and don't lose much distance.
Cons: shots low on the face don't go anywhere.
Quality:

Purchase: I bought this club on ebay brand new for $115 because my TaylorMade 300 was to unforgiving and I wanted something bigger and longer.
Pros: The sweet spot is big and toe and heel shots only cut and draw to the edges of the fairway. When hit pure the ball sizzles off the face. I was told the stock shaft was junk but my regular flex shaft is perfect and I hit it 290. At address the club looks great and the confidence level on this club is through the roof.
Cons: The playability is little, but who needs to hit a huge draw or slice off the tee? I have not hit a ball that has hooked or sliced more than 10 yards.
Quality: I know people who treat there Great Big Bertha II badly and have not had any problems. I treat mine like it's priceless. The quality is high.

Review Summary: The 380cc head is perfect for me. Not to small and unforgiving and not huge and like I am swinging a bus, but its also big enough to have some good forgiveness and small enough to feel easy to swing. If I could buy any club on the market right now the Great Big Bertha II would be in the top 3.

Purchase: I purchased my GBB II Driver at my local Pro Shop. This was a brand new, left over club that they sold me for $150.
Pros: My favorite aspects of the Great Big Bertha II Driver it the weight and forgiveness. I have a relatively slow swing as I concentrate more on accuracy than distance. With my old set of clubs, I would never even take the driver out of the bag. I had no confidence with it as shots seemed to be all over the place. The GBB II is a very confidence inspiring Driver, I now use the driver more than I ever thought I would.
Cons: My only gripes about the driver is that the System 60 Graphite shaft that is standard on this club seems to have alot of flex. For right now, where my swing speed is slow, it hits beautiful, but for people with a faster swing speed, the System 60 Regular Flex might not be stiff enought.
Quality: This is a nice looking product. Typical Shiny mirror like finish on the bottom and a matalic painted top. It also seems like a well constructed product. I have only been using this club for less than 1 month, but I do not have any issues with the Construction or Quiclity of this Driver.

Review Summary: While, at MSRP I doubt I would have purchased this Driver, but for $150 new from my Pro Shop this is a great addition to my bag.

Purchase: Wanted more distance in my Drives.
Pros: Size and easy to hit.
Cons: Fragile
Quality: Construction of the Driver head was acceptable. The Big Bertha Grip wears fast. The Sys 60 Firm shat is extremely fragile. Mine cracked and broke off after 2 Months

Review Summary: Good Driver, good value for the money. Would recommend you stay away from all Callaway Shafts, they are feeble.

Purchase: I purchased this driver (nine degrees, firm flex grafite shaft) used from Golfsmith for approximately $210. It had some cosmetic marks (paint, ink, and a little dirt) on the clubface, and I suppose this accounted for the price. A little mildly soapy water applied with an old toothbrush and it looked like new. I bought this one and tested it on the course the next day - no driving range break-in.
Pros: The distance and forgiveness are amazing. I picked up 20-30 yards over my old (perhaps going-flat) 9 degree War Bird driver. On back-to-back holes (the 15th and 16th) of the first day I used it, I hit the ball right around 300 yards over level ground and little wind. (Hot and humid air, though, so that helped a bit). I've found the harder I swing, the higher, farther, and (most surprisingly) straighter it goes. Takes all the worry out of teeing-off; just shift your weight and turn as hard as you can - the driver will do the rest!
Cons: Given the performance, any aesthetic complaints seem silly. Yes, the head is HUGE, but the tasteful navy blue color helps make it less jarring. The sound is not to my taste, something between a "CLANK" and a "KONG" sound at impact. That sound is quickly drowned out by the admiring sounds made by golfing companions, though. As far as how it actually performs, I will say that this is not a very workable club, at least not for someone who has just gotten one. Maybe eventually I'll learn to knock it down, hit a big cut around a corner, or sweep a draw down the left side, like I could often manage with my old driver. For now, I'll just have to content myself with high, straight, and long. Oh, boo-hoo.
Quality: Outstanding, as usual for a Callaway wood.

Review Summary: With a ten year gap between my old driver and my new one, I suppose I shouldn't be shocked by the level of improvement of the technology. Still, I can't believe how good this thing is - from what I've heard, the same can be said of the newer Taylor's, Clevelands, etc. If you're still carrying around something from the 1990's, I urge you to get off the dime and get something from the current generation. You won't regret it.

Purchase: I purchased at a demo day in Maine. I hit it and completely fell in love with this club!!!
Pros: The weight of this club is incredible. It is a light weight club with wonderful feel on contact with the ball. Believe it or not, my drives are consistently 10-12 yrds longer with this club. I currently own the Ti Bubble 2 driver and there is no compairison. While testing the club i hit several others and none had the feel, playability, and control as the new GGB2 driver does.
Cons: There was nothing that i did not like about this club, even the mis-hits went well for me.
Quality: The club is a titanium club that is huge and light. It hit very well.

Review Summary: Great club for any player, beginner to pro! Soft feel, long distance and straight.

Purchase: I found it at my local golf shop on sale. I have a couple of old Taylor Made drivers and I have been happy with them. I compared prices and found that what they were asking for the club was good so I took that and a couple of other drivers of theirs to the practice range. I compared it to a Titleist driver and a King Cobra and found that I hit this one the best and it felt the best. Luckily for me, it was also the cheapest of the three I was considering at only $150.
Pros: The feel and weighting of the club is what I like the best. The club is somewhat forgiving but just like any club, if your swing is bad, you wont strike the ball well.
Cons: The club came with the stock grip which I was never a fan of.
Quality: super

Purchase: Bought this baby off Ebay for $220 shipped, brand new! It was a great deal so I couldn't pass it up. I love the Callaway name, and had been drooling over one for months. This was a great asset to my game and a big step up from my Dunlop driver.
Pros: I love it all! The color is gorgeous and who wouldn't love the polished sole? At address it sets up wonderfully and inspires nothing but confidence. The paint kinda "creeps" onto the face, but that didn't really bother me. The sound is great too! I love the sound of a pure shot... just gove me goosebumps! This club is forgiving, accurate (with the right shaft), and L-O-N-G! I have a 9.5' Pro Series and I consistently avg 275yds minimum off the tee! It's a great club and for the price I paid, worth EVERY penny.
Cons: Only one thing: Since I started using the driver BEFORE I had grooved a proper swing, I skied a few shots at the range. The paint that "creeps" onto the face suffered a bit of damage and is all scuffed up thanks to my crappy swing and a crappy scuffed range ball. =( It can be refinished (and it will), but other than that, no problems at all. If you have a decent swing and don't sky any shots, you'll be fine.
Quality: Callaway construction... solid and perfect as always. No complaints here.

Review Summary: If you want to make you buddies drool and be awe-struck when you get to the first tee, buy one of these! Wait till you see their faces when you set up to that beautiful blue head and knock a boomer down the middle of the fairway, truly an awesome purchase.

Purchase: This was a Birthday present, but it was bought at Dick's Sport store at $399.00 in Upstate New York. I have had 2 drivers (Taylormade 360 10.5 and Nike TI 350 9) neither did much for me. I was slicing and short so much I rarely pulled them out of my bag. I tried almost every driver out there, but the Callaway was special. I just couldn't justify the price. Thank God for great wives!!
Pros: IT WORKS!!! The driver is excellent. It cured my slice and I am getting great distance 250 to 290 yards. I actually get a fade in my drive that was I have never gotten with any other driver. The look at address is perfect.
Cons: It would be the price, but on reflection it was worth every penny. I should have bought it earlier.
Quality: As with all Callaway products, the construction and quality are first rate. I own a set of X-14 Pro series irons so I knew what to expect.

Review Summary: I wish I would have started out with this Driver. I have gone from struggling to break 90 to the low 80's in about 4 weeks. I even had an eagle and many birdies at holes where I only had pars and the occasional birdie before. It feels great to start a round with some friends and not be afraid to pull the driver. Now, I pull the BBII with confidence-and it shows in my scores!!

Purchase: I purchased this driver from Golf Warehouse in Auckland, New Zealand for NZ $950. I'd been previously using a Cobra 350SS Offset, 9 degree in the vain hope to accomodate my slice. Determined however to rebuild my swing rather than rely on the equipment, my slice has now turned into either a strong draw or a wicked hook. This, ironically, forced me to change aspects of my swing yet again. At his point I decided to search for a driver that complemented the swing that I worked so hard on fixing. After several trials with drivers like the Ping Si3, and the TaylorMade R500 (400cc), I flirted with the GBB II Pro-Series and found that I just couldn't put the club away. It was exactly what I had been looking for.
Pros: The Pro-Series model has an open face set at 1 degree. Unlike the GBB II+ it's face meets the criteria that professionals are required to follow when using a driver on tour: the COR must not exceed .830. Given that, this club sends the ball into oblivion. I've gained at least 30 yards, sending the ball 280 yards+ on the fly with a high degree of accuracy (and with a moderate to fast swing). The best thing I like about this driver is that at impact the feed back is crisp. I'm able to strike the ball consistently, rarely mishitting and nearly always cashing in on a big sweet spot. I'm using Callaway's factory GBB system 60 firm shaft a change from the R flex I had previously used. I've found that with this shaft I don't have to minipulate the club head to square the face and concentrate only on swing path and correct hand release. While the company offers a wide range of optional shaft fittings, I'm happy to stay with the system they've designed. I can draw more gently, fade when required or just hit straight down the fairway. The 8.5 degree loft provides me with enough flexibility to hit either a low sizzling blinder into the wind or a high low spinning drive that remains on target through the stratosphere. If accuracy is what you're looking for then this club will deliver.
Cons: The GBB II Pro-Series falls slightly shorter in terms distance than other new driver's on the market, but the compromise is accuracy. I'd rather be 300 yards down the fairway 85% of the time than the same distance or more 85% of the time in the trees - or worse!
Quality: I like the simplicity of the club. While certainly having all that technology available to produce one of the best drivers yet, it's conservative presentation stills sends the message that you mean business. I think Callaway can pat themselves on the back for a truly beautiful piece of art and an awesome weapon for the avid Saturday morning golfer.

Review Summary: If your looking for accuracy, combined with distance and your committed to fixing your swing, then this club will deliver. Like any golf club, when you've mastered and achieved a solid reliable swing, the GBB II Pro Series will never let you down. Until manufacturers like Callaway come up with the right blend of new space age metals, and the authorities raise the COR limit, I'll be using this club until I wear off the grooves on its face.

Purchase: I got this one of a kind driver as a gift from my son. He had been running a summer company, and thought to repay me for my help by purchasing a top-of-the-line driver, my first, to help with my swing. he bought it unused off of Ebay.com for $379.99. The driver arrived on a memorable March 21, 2003, and I have used it ever since.
Pros: What I like the most about this driver is the size of the "sweet spot" , It is large enough to accomodate for many small errors made during the swing. With the ultra-thin face I find that I am now outdriving a lot of the better players at the club, and it makes my approach shots easier. The graphite shaft gives me just enoug flex to really accelerate through the ball.
Cons: If there is one downside to this almost perfect club. it is that my son bought it with a shaft-length that is too long to match perfectly with my swing. I also find that the huge clubhead makes the driver look more like an amateur's club than a professional driver.
Quality: The Callaway Great Big Bertha II is of all titanium construction, with an ultra-thin face. It has enlarged head volume (a whopping 380cc) and a very high moment of inertia. The spin rate and launch angle are optimized over the entire face area. This driver conforms to USGA C.O.R. rules. It features a GBB System 60 graphite shaft.

Review Summary: I believe that the Callaway Great Big Bertha II is THE greatest driver man has ever created. Ive tried out Nikes, Titleists and Wilsons. They just don't feel the same. I play a better round with the comfort of a beautiful driver. I suggest this club to any golfer wants to hit the long ball without throwing out their shoulder.

Purchase: Purchased on eBay for $305 + shipping, brand new.
Pros: Extremely forgiving, ability to work the ball, beautiful finish, solid feel.
Cons: Shots hit low on the face suffer the worst.
Quality: Construction is top notch. RCH Pro Series shaft is a super upgrade over the stock shaft, no comparison. Paint finish is excellent, the club is built very very good.

Review Summary: Mid to low handicappers all love this club with the uprgade RCH Pro SEries H65 shaft, everyone wants it bad.

Purchase: i bought one for dad this past christmas, 10 degrees and a regular shaft. i hit it a few times but the regular shaft had me alittle off, but the face intrested me alot because it jus felt plain hot! i went a tried a 8 degree and 9 degree driver and loved both, finally decided on the 9 and paid 379 plus tax.
Pros: first off like i said before its hot! it goes plenty far and pretty straight as long as i swing at it with a fairly aggressive swing, when i let off it goes right for me. shaft is lite, maybe too lite for some but i have adjusted and realize its helping my distance. face is 380 cc and big but not like most, its higher instead of wide witch helps me really go after it with an aggressive upward swing. most off allits consistent as any driver i have ever hit, mostly a titleist guy this is my first callaway club ever! and i truly love hittin it, its the sweetest feeling i have ever experienced!
Cons: not much hahaha, for almost 400 dollars you better like it! shaft is lite, but im gettin used to it. sometimes when you miss it you might be able to tell from you and your swing but not from the club because it really doesnt give you any feedback in a negative light, maybe thats a good thing ? hahaha
Quality: great, awesome, second to none! beautiful too look at, most people are afraid to ask to hit it fearing they might hurt the finish lol!

Review Summary: alot of money no doubt, but all in all the best money i have spent on my game in over four years. my irons, my putter are truly fine with me for awhile, but driver was a club i wanted to get more out of, this club goes farther then anything i have ever hit. im 31 and in good shape, i swing about 105 maybe alittle more when i get dum haha, and this club has added a good 10-15 yards consistently and straight. go get it! people will question its legallity hahaha!

Purchase: golfclubexchange.com paid $265 plus shipping- was used 2 times.
Pros: Very accurate. 9 degree (straight face) 10 yds or so shorter than my Ping Tisi, but straighter and can work it. I have new Graffaloy Blue shaft- stiff, pured by SST. Best combo seems to be Nike ball with this club/setup.
Cons: Sound takes getting used to.
Quality: Wonderful.

Review Summary: Well worth it for someone wanting to hit more fairways- I lost distance, but some others I talked to gained distance with the GBBII. Overall my scores have dropped.

On 2003-04-21, Peter Ho rated this Callaway Great Big Bertha II a 5...(1156)

Purchase: Bought the beauty from our local agent (pro shop) at about US$450. Formerly using the Great Big Bertha (GBB) driver and requires a change of driver. Tried a few drivers such as Taylor Made R series, Ping, Nike and finally settled foor a Callaway driver as I like the feel. The driver is a 10 deg+ firm flex construction and like the shiny blue head on the driver.
Pros: The feel of the firm flex gives me better control of my drive. Always had a good drive with this driver and carry an average of 210 meters onto the fairway. Especially if I play with my Titleist Pro V1* ball, it carries another 10 meters off the tee. Even if you do not hit a good shot, the ball will still carry very well and is very forgiving. Great driver to play with, never regret the great buy.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
Quality: Nice gloss blue finish. Good finishing. Best driver that Callway had produced.

Review Summary: In summary, the best value for money and a great driver. Callaway produces another winner this time. Go and try the driver. You will never regret it.

Purchase: I got this driver of eBay for £220.00. I was using a NIKE 350 and a Titleist 975D with DG S-300 shafts until i read so much good reviews about this driver and decided that i must try it.And a few weeks later i got the driver and i couldn't wait to give it a go at the range.
Pros: The driver sits square at address which is great, unlike ym NIKE 350 which is very closed and shut at address which i did not like at all.But the GBBII still doesn't look as attractive as the Nike Driver in design or the Titleist 975D at address. When you hit the driver it sounds great...gives youa very lively note and not the muted sound in most titanium drivers nowadays in the market.Another good point about the driver is that it is so long and straight....they should make this thing illegal, but thankfully they didn't.You will find most fairways even though you are only an average player, but that being said it is assumed that your golf swing is sound and has proper mechanics, not that you assumed that it is sound.
Cons: the graphic design on the shafts can be improved and the pointer on the clubhead could use some revision.
Quality: the contruction of the club is overall very good but the paint comes off pretty easy, aside from that, all is good and great.

Review Summary: For the money you pay on eBay for this driver...i honestly don't think there is any other better drivers around because of the distance and accuracy this baby gives you.I have tried all the major drivers even the 983 Tileist, a great driver that is similar to the GBBII but alot more expensive. Fit the GBBII with a fujikura 757 Speeder or Graphite Design YS-6 shaft in it and i think you have the weapon to slay your course and shave the strokes.

Purchase: My brother and I bought it together as a Christmas gift for my father through an internet site in the States (my brother live over there). We paid U.S.$399 which is quite expensive but then it was a new club and the best so we didn't mind
Pros: Well, this is a "new generation" driver and one of the first that Callaway has made since the limitations on "spring faced" drivers were introduced and I was keen to see what they had come up with. I used to have a Ping ISI titanium and absolutely loved it. Playing off a scratch meant I was able to really get great distance and my bad drives were cut to a minimum. I had heard of "spring faced" drivers but had also heard they were illegal so did not worry myself too much. Then the BBII came out, "spring faced" but legal, it had to be worth a look. I used it with my father over the holidays in sunny South Africa and was completely blown away by it! The distance and trajectory was incredible, I used to hit my Ping about 230m on the fly but with the BBII I was hitting it about 290m on the fly and rolling close to 350m! It really squares up to the ball nicely and is very forgiving of off-center shots.
Cons: The price is quite steep but for what you are getting, it is well worth it.
Quality: Top quality, great construction and excellent finish. The head-cover is also innovative and looks really professional! The colour is that deep powerful blue colour which I really liked.

Review Summary: A great driver that hits it a mile, very forgiving too, my Father (15 handicap) hit it for the first time and never missed a fairway and was consistently 40 meters further than his hold driver (a taylormade copy). Him and his mates now take turns!
