Purchase: Borrowed it from a friend
Pros: the look and sound THATS IT
Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE! this is one of the hardest drivers to master i usually drive 200-250 yrds but with this thing i cud not have even put my drives in the right place on the fairway. Its rather light and makes a nice sound off the tee but realy thats it the ball goes nowhere.
Quality: very good quality

Review Summary: honestly do not waste your money on this driver instead if you realy want a Callaway driver that hits well go on www.callawaygolfpreowned.com and buy the Great big bertha war bird thats honestly the real deal driver

Purchase: Golf Usa $349.00
Pros: I am able to work the ball now I very rarely miss a fairway and I am in the 290-300 yard range consistently
Cons: sometimes I am too long and have to use a 5 wood
Quality: excellent

Review Summary: one of the best out there

Purchase: Local shop $350.00
Pros: This club will launch 'em but I had to change to a softer shaft which I was concerned with because I have pretty good clubhead speed.
Cons: I've had this club for a while and it took a while to learn to hit it. Now that I've learned the club the face has caved in and it's time for a new driver.
Quality: Due to the face caving in I can't really give it a thumbs up on durability.

Review Summary: After paying that kind of price I expected the club to last a few years longer. When your swing is on this a great driver that I can hit 300 yds. plus but playing a draw I get alot of hooks (maybe due to the softer shaft). I also have a Steelhead Plus driver with steel shaft but it didn't last a year when something in the head came loose and started to rattle. It will be a while before I buy another Callaway driver.

Purchase: I bought this off callawaypreowned.com for $119.99.
Pros: The club seemed to have really good explosion of the face and carried a LONG way. It seemed to carry and carry.
Cons: The club head is so thick top to bottom that you have to tee the ball up really high to get it to meet the sweet spot.
Quality: One of the clubs "internal weighting" chips broke off and made the club useless after only one month of light use. When this happened, I contacted Callaway, and they sent me a brand new Great Big Berthat II, free of charge. The best service in the golf world, BAR NONE.

Review Summary: Great club, unfortunate that a freak occurance made it useless.

Purchase: I thought it was about time to upgrade in technology. I saw it in a close out sale so I paid $180 summer of 2001.
Pros: At first, I feel in love with the club based on the technology that I had been using, but then I quickly found the clubs flaws.
Cons: Almost everything. 1. The stock shaft stinks! It is very inconsistant. 2. Misshits are punished. You will at first think it is your swing, but then I started to talk with others who had had this club. Not being a scratch golfer, I need something that is MUCH more forgiving than this stick. You will see the smallest mishits turn into short hooks. 3. This club is meant to correct slices. I have a natural draw, thus this club puts a super draw on my shots. 4. It isn't the longest club. That is fine with me. I am a long hitter and can stand to have a little distance taken off to give me an accurate shot, but this club won't do that! I have demo'ed other drivers and they are much more accurate and much longer.
Quality: The shaft is not what you would want. I am done with Callaway woods because of their shafts.

Review Summary: If there are still any around, avoid them. This is not a good club and the technology has progressed so much more.

Purchase: I found the driver head floating in a pond in front of a tee box! Paid $75 to have the UST Proforce Gold 65 shaft and a Winn grip installed.
Pros: I love the look and finish of the driver. The face is very high for a 300 cc. Love the shaft. It is the most accurate driver that I have hit. It flies out very straight and goes forever. I believe it has some heel weigthing because it is easy to square up.
Cons: The sweet spot is the size of a pinpoint. It has three stages: Center hits that fly about 320 yards, Slightly off center hits that lose about 40 yards but still stay straight and toe and heel hits that go about 150 yards and go anywhere they want.
Quality: The construction is excellent. The VFT has a great feel at impact and that awesome Callaway sound!

Review Summary: If you are looking for ultimate forgiveness in a driver, this club is probably not for you. But if you hit driver well and want a club that delivers good distance, quality and is workable, this may be the driver for you. (Especially if you can find one in a pond like me!)

Purchase: $150 new. My friend works at a golf shop so I got a good deal.
Pros: I like the feel. It makes rock hard balls(like HVC) feel somewhat soft. I really like the control. This is one of the few drivers I can consistantly draw down the fairway. The size of the head is very much to my liking. Not like those new 400+cc monstrosities. And it is a very good looking club.
Cons: I usually play a Steelhead Plus 9* and I lose about 10-20 yards on my drives with this club.
Quality: Very good. Very durable. Callaway, as per usual, manufactures a quality product.

Review Summary: This is an excellent club if you like feel and control, but I do not recommend if you're looking for raw distance.

Purchase: I managed to get one for £139 from a discount golf shop
Pros: I Have always played Callaway woods so decided to give it a try at the price. To my amazement it goes really really well i used to hit my 9 deg warbird about 250 yards but this 280 - 290 it has a right to left shape about the shot so aim right a fraction but apart from that yeah great buy. I would say to anyone give it a try they work.
Cons: Sweet strikes easy to lie lie and ball flight.
Quality: Well put together sits behind the ball nice tie it up high and rip it.

Review Summary: This driver is best for anyone between Handicaps of 3 and 18.

Purchase: I just got this for $199 after a five club shoot out at Dick's. I also swung the newest Tommy Armour (*really* great club for less).
Pros: In order: 1) Hawkeye 2) Tommy Armour 3) Mike 350cc 4) TaylorMade 5 series (good club, in it's defense the shaft I swung was too long for me, but it was $70 more) I nailed the VFT long and straight. I was averaging 95-100mph swing, but the test room was narrow and I wasn't able to go full bore. I chose a lower loft to suit the faster swing. For those looking for performance near as good the Tommy Armour was solid, but the VFt was better balanced, felt more natural to my swing. The Nike had a very very forgiving face, but I couldn't get the distance, and lost some control.
Cons: Nothing yet.
Quality: Top grade, like you'd expect from a Callaway.

Review Summary: I had a smaller faced driver, consistenly drove it to the right. Ten in a row straight and far with the VFT. Now that it's available under $200 it's a steal. I have a fast swing, which higher didn't suit, went with a lower loft and was hitting long, flat and straight.

Purchase: Purchased this club new for $229 - replacing my Steelhead Plus 10* Stiff
Pros: My very first (on course) drive with this club was 310 yds, straigt down the middle - and I have been able to repeat this result many times since then.
Cons: So far I have no complaints....
Quality: Nice finish, looks good at address - It's a Callaway what did you expect?

Review Summary: So far the VFT has exceeded my expectations.

Purchase: I paid $305 for this driver and I thought that it was going to be a great driver. I have had it a year and I think the club just sounds dead. I hit it great when I first got it.
Pros: I liked when i first go it. I could wail on that thing. THe first couple months i had it I loved it. I hit it about 280-290 every time.
Cons: I dont like it now because the driver just feels dead to me. I dont get that loud sound when u hit it well. The driver was great but now i am going to trade it in and get the new Ping TiSi Tec driver.
Quality: The club is great for lower swing speeds but i dont think that it hits well with a higher swing speed. i swing about 100mph on average and i believe it is dead after a year of pounding it down the fairway.

Review Summary: If u have a slowerswing speed the driver is great, plus it is a Callaway so that is good in itself. I just wish i could hit the driver like i hit it when i first got it. My reccomendation is get rid of it after about a year.

On 2002-09-05, Chicks Dig the Long Ball rated this Callaway Hawkeye VFT a 5...(509)

Purchase: I redeemed some Visa Card points, in fact it was 45,000 points. So technically this cost me $45,000.00. Huh, I never looked at it that way?
Pros: The Club is a solid piece of equipment. The Driver feels like an extention of my arm. It is well manufactured with a HUGE face that just wants to crush the ball. The big dog just wants out of the Bag all day long, but in the true spirit of my game. I use it usually 10 or 13 times a round. I have a killer driving iron as well.
Cons: I like everything it was like God's Gift to me.
Quality: Callaway makes the best drivers. I use the "Strong" shaft because I do not need the flex but it still has enough kick. The head is well constructed. The weight of the club is almost perfect. It gives a smooth and well balanced feel.

Review Summary: You gotta get one of these. If I had to pay for it I would still buy it. I had my first 340 yard drive, I thought I was dreaming. Usually I get off the tee between 290-300 hards, thats 15-20 yards longer than my last driver. Just do it!

On 2002-08-27, T. Whalen rated this Callaway Hawkeye VFT a 5...(467)

Purchase: I had seen some mixed reviews of this driver. Some were great and others were not, but I decided to go with the Callaway anyway. I purchased the 10* loft with regular flex graphite shaft for $220 used, but in very good condition.
Pros: The first time i hit this was on the range before my usual 9 holes. I was hitting mostly duck hooks with it at first. Once I swung it for a couple minutes though, I started to hit long high draws. When you make decent contact with this thing, it is very good. I would say it is pretty forgiving.
Cons: I think that the regular flex might be a little soft for my faster swing speed, so I would consider getting the stiff flex. I haven't been able to hit fades consistently yet. I think it is designed to draw.
Quality: This club is constructed well. It looks good at address, and feels great to swing.

Review Summary: Great driver, a little expensive if you buy new, but overall awesome club for any handicap level.

On 2002-08-19, ryan rated this Callaway Hawkeye VFT a 4...(419)

Purchase: I first saw the driver in a playing partners bag, which then made me go try it out at a local retailer (pro golf discount.)I paid $395
Pros: I like that the club was way more forgiving than my titleist 975j and just as accurate.
Cons: I thought the driver was a little overpriced and I question the durability.
Quality: So far the driver has worked great for me but whenever i swing it i feel like i am about to dent the face.

Review Summary: I think the driver would be a great tool in someones bag with a lower swing speed. overall it is a great driver.
