Purchase: Had tried my friend's 1996 Big Bertaha Irons and liked their feel. Purchased clubs from 2nd Swing for $599. The purchase was made after being able to test a demo set for three days.
Pros: Have read reviews critizing the look of these irons. I think the clubs look just fine. Put in a custom order for the #3 iron to the #10 iron rather the basic set of #4 to #10 plus the pitching wedge. I got the steel shafts, but purchased the pitching wedge with a graphite shaft because of it's lighter weight. The clubs are forgiving. On rare missed hits I lose about 20% distance but the direction of the hit is alway on line toward the intended target. I am 67 years old, shoot in the middle and high eighties. I hit the seven iron about 135 yards. I find the BBI more foregiving then my previous irons, which were custom made by a local pro. I love having a pitching wedge for delicate pitch shots from 60 yards in and the #10 wedge for distances from 70 to 105 yards. I don't "work" the shots ofen and can't comment on BBI's playability. These are definitely "game improvement" clubs

Quality: Excellent

Review Summary: At $599, the price is competitive with other big name iron sets. Most important, if possible try before you buy preferably on the course. I don't trust the mechanical setups in the golf stores. May not be the best club for the long strickers of the ball.
