Details: Callaway Big Bertha Fusion RCH Graphite 75i firm shaft
Purchase: I originally wanted to get Callaway X-18 after admiring how great Annika Sorenstam plays her game. My future father-in-law recently switched to this club and he said he has been living in the heaven. So i went to the local Golf Smith and checked out between the two clubs. This club had better price and seemed to be little more worn out, but it didn't look like it will give bads in my game at all. So I literally *stole* this set of irons for $600 (after all the talking and bargain). I did travel farther than the one near my house. The reason was the place i got this was located in very upper-class town and i heard the news that people there switch and resell clubs like 16 year old boy switching girlfriend. Pros: I have been using RAM FX3 for sometime. RAM was affordable at the time and is very good for beginners. But I constantly sliced my balls and i didn't get the distance i wanted. RAM only gave me 140-150 on my 7 iron. Now i can hit 150 with 8 iron on my fusion, swinging slower than my previous club!!! This club hits soft like butter and forgives like Jesus. Cons: Having graphite shaft, which is very light, i cannot put too much power when swinging. So it forces me to swing slower, which helps my accuracy. It is working out well for me though. I hope my future father-in-law switches with me after some years since he has steel shaft. Quality: I don't know how fusion technology works, but it sure works for me Review Summary: Based on my testing:
This club gives you the distance.
This club makes ball float so high, my buddies call my golf ball Michael Jordan.
This club has the best forgivingness up to date.
When hitting the ball, this club is soft and smooth like butter.
Please do yourself a favor and go check this out at your golf stores.

Purchase: I'm getting older and felt that I could no longer just grab a set of Blades and play like I used to, so I decided to switch up and go for a more forgiving club.
I paid $999 at Roger Dunn in L.A. - but I traded in the standard Mizuno MP 32 irons for a good price.
Pros: Sweet! Spectacular! Annika is right on in the TV commercials. These are "better."
These Fusions have the NS PRO 990 steel shafts in them, which is 20 grams lighter than the True Temper DG Stiff which are in most standard clubs, but has the same properties.
I can swing the club just a bit quicker and much more easily because of the lighter shaft. I feel confident about the ball going exactly where I want it to go. No doubts or worries creep in to my mind with these clubs - I grab a club, I address the ball, and I immediately know I can hit it just the way I want it without even thinking. Simple as that. Which is good, because I do not want to have to work so hard to hit it like I was doing with blades any more. I'm getting older and I can't play as much, so these are perfect. The fact that it's lighter but plays the same as the heavier shafts? Priceless!
The club head is a new three-piece composite, with Titanium on the face. The ball takes off with a nice, firm rebound off the club face, and has a nice, strong, mid-high trajectory which makes the ball come down to sit down and stop.
So smooth and buttery feeling, now I know why Annika swings so effortlessly! Cons: The grips could be softer. They feel a little more plasticky and hard than the usual velvet type that you see on other clubs. Quality: Beautiful clubs! These clubs are museum pieces!
When I look at these clubs, I marvel at how far technology has come.
So well balanced.
Each club feels perfectly tuned with each other. I've had other clubs where I end up sort of messing around with getting comfortable over the ball and the difference in the way I feel from the long irons to the short irons were so different sometimes I got myself annoyed - but not these clubs.
Absolute quality is Number 1 with Callaway, and these clubs prove that. Review Summary: Callaway is Quality. The price may seem high in comparison to other clubs, but the value you get for the price is unmatched. You want easy to hit, forgiving clubs without sacrifing feel and control and gain some distance while still wanting to play steel shafts and the solid construction of a forged type club? Here they are.
And it seems the trend for lighter steel shafts with the same properties as the normal, heavier shafts is quickly becoming the trend. You see that happening everywhere. On 2005-04-15, moecat01 rated this Callaway Big Bertha Fusion a 4...(5396)
Purchase: Got it from a golf pro shop through Ebay: $880. Had used Adams Idea irons and Tour Edge Jmax iron-woods and felt both were a bit bulky Pros: Easy to set up and balls goes high and far on good hits. The face is a little smaller and the sole is a little thinner compared to the regular Big Bertha, but I actually found this to be less distracting during set-up. I didn't find this to affect my ball-striking. Longer irons are even relatively easy to hit. Overall a crisp feel and sound on good hits, and easy to work a draw.
Cons: There is still considerable vibration on mis-hits, but that's not such a bad thing ... it forces you to learn to hit properly; not so easy to work a fade, but that is probably just me and how I swing. I did find that if I adjusted the ball position between my stance at set-up, I can work a fade better (even though this may not be the best way to accomplish the goal). Not sure if the titanium insert really makes a distance difference as opposed to a normal steel face. The weight does seem lighter than a regular iron, so this is beneficial for those who like a lighter swing weight. Quality: Club head, shaft and grip are all top notch. Club head is real light, which I like; stock shaft is firm flex and feels just right for me - not too heavy or too light; stock grip is surprisingly good ... usually I find such grips to be too small and shoddy, but this one fits me well personally, and I always like the Callaway finger position guide Review Summary: Ask yourself first: is it worth the $900-$1200 price tag? Demo these first, and see if you feel more comfortable and confident after hitting these irons. If so, then you have to balance out these 2 factors. I had used the Adams Idea irons and the Tour Edge Jmax iron-woods previously. Both are good quality, but I found them to be a little too bulky.
If you want a quality iron set that will last you a LONG time, then spend the extra money and don't worry about it. On 2004-12-10, Kyle woods rated this Callaway Big Bertha Fusion a 5...(4835)
