On 2003-06-10, Mitch rated this Callaway Hawkeye a 5...(1492)

Purchase: I was using Snake Eye Viper MS Graphite irons and was not happy with the forgiveness or distance. I was looking for the most forgiving iron I could find and a friend recommended Calloway irons. I went to a second swing store and tried several Callaway iron sets and liked the Callaway Hawkeye irons. Since I could not afford the price of a new set, I went to the Callaway web site for pre-owned Hawkeye iron sets. I purchased a Callaway certified 4 - PW set with Callaway Graphite regular flex in good conditions for $559.00. I recently purchased from Callaway a used Callaway Hawkeye Approach Wedge and Sand Wedge with Callaway Graphite stiff flex that were listed in Like New coondition at $99.99/club to complete my set.
Pros: These are the most forgiving clubs I have ever used. They hit the ball high to provide a soft landing on the green even with the low irons. I immediately gained back the distance I had lost with my Snake Eyes Viper MS iron set. The tungsten-injected titanium weighting system really makes the ball fly true and accurately towards the target. The clubs have a great feel and provide me with the confidence required to use the lower irons.
Cons: I have not found anything to dislike about these clubs.
Quality: This a very well constructed set of irons that will last a number of years. I purchased used clubs from Callaway that were identified as in good condition. The irons came as advertized with a few scraches on the iron heads but with plenty of life. The two irons that were advertised as like new irons looked as if they had not even been used.

Review Summary: I have played with the 4 - PW irons almost twice a week for a month and have gotten consistently more accurate and consistent with my distance. I highly recommend purchasing pre-owned irons from Callaway as they come certified and at a good price. My only regret is that I had the opportunity to purchase a set that included a Sand Wedge but decided that was not necessary. That was my mistake as it would have been less expensive than buying the Sand Wedge at a later date. It is definitely true that you get what you pay for, these are fantastic irons.
