On 2004-04-10, Bryan Sheets rated this Callaway X-16 Pro Series Irons a 4...(3332)

Purchase: I purchased the X-16 pro series after playing a set of Titleist DTR irons for the past 12 years. I was looking to take advantage of technology and reduce the amount of offset that the DTR's had.I paid $599 from Callaway pre-owned web site.
Pros: I like the look and feel of the irons, the long irons are noticeably easier to hit for me. The short irons are not as stable or as consistent as I would like.
Cons: The Pitching wedge for example travels a couple of yards less than the old Titleist irons I was used to. I also noticed that I had a harder time drawing the ball because the clubs are so forgiving.
Quality: I have the clubs in True Temper S-300 shafts. The fit and finish of the clubs is excellent, they are very well made.

Review Summary: I honestly think I will grow to love these clubs.I had played with my previous set of irons for so long I had worked through and adjusted for all of the traits of those clubs.

Purchase: I traded in my Rac os Irons on these as soon as I could. I paid $ 300 after my trade. These irons are so supperior to my Racs that I feel like I ripped my Pro shop Off!
Pros: For a golfer who wants to be able to shape a shot and know where and how far the ball is going EVERY time you hit it these are the irons for you! The feel and smoothnes of these clubs is amazing. I can now say I am a changed player. I probably knocke 4 strokes off the first round I played with these weapons! You will have confidence in every shot you take with these clubs!
Cons: The wedges are a little head heavy. But once you get used to it you do gain a better touch off chipps and flop shots.
Quality: The look of these irons at address is so powerfull. The heads are compact an "blade like" so there is no screwing around at address, it's either on line or not. Rag grips really give you afirm grip.

Review Summary: If you are a skilled player looking to give your self and extra advantage, get these irons! you won't be sorry.
