On 2007-03-10, Rick F. rated this Callaway X-Forged a 5...(7670)

Details: X-Forged 3-P with Project X 6.0

Purchase: Purchased from Dick's Sporting Goods for $899. Traded in 3 sets to get them!
Pros: These are the most incredible irons I have ever hit! Callaway has really outdone theirselves with these. The classic look instills confidence at address (and they look beautiful in the bag too!). The thin topline and minimal offset matched with the shorter blade length provide better players with a perfect club for working the ball. But, these clubs are also much more forgiving than you would think. I would suggest anyone with a handicap from 15 to scratch at least try these. You will be very pleasantly surprised how forgiving they are. Great job Callaway!!!
Cons: Absolutely nothing that I don't like about these clubs. I would have paid much more for them if I had too.
Quality: Top notch construction and quality. Callaway has been known to mass produce some less than perfect quality equipment in the past, but these certainly break the mold.

Review Summary: I would definitly suggest these clubs for anyone with a 15 or better handicap. The best irons I have ever hit!!!!

Details: Project-X Flighted shafts in stiff flex

Purchase: I purchased these new Callaway X-Forged irons from Edwin Watts Superstore in Ft. Lauderdale for $800.
Pros: The irons are very inviting at address, no offset, sharp leading edge, very soft and suprisingly forgiving. Don't be discouraged by the name 'blade'. Give them a demo, you'll thank me later.
Cons: Nothing. It's just a shame that the mid to higher handicappers won't try them because of the blade type set-up and the myth of being so much harder to hit.
Quality: Top notch quality. Typical Callawqay craftmanship to be expected. I think that ALL the top name brands provide excellent products, you just owe yourself to try them all. Anything over $50. is worth in vestigating. 'Investigate before investing'!

Review Summary: I searched for a new set to replace my Mizuno MX 23's. I looked at the Misuno MP 60's, MP 32's, Callaway X-20 tours and the Taylor Made R7 TP's. These X-forged clubs are hands down the best amoung them all. The MP 60's are a close 2nd.
