On 2004-06-03, Gordy rated this Carbite Tour Insert 52 Gap and 56 Sand a 5...(3723)

Purchase: I was looking for a good set of wedges to make up my set. I purchased these wedges from 2nd Swing for $10 a piece.
Pros: First off, I like the weight of these wedges. Most wedges that I have tried feel too light to me and, consequently, don't perform well for my type of swing. I like the heft of these wedges. Seems like I don't have to swing really hard to get the desired trajectory and distance. The insert is a copper base with tungsten particles mixed in. The tungsten particles have long been worn off, but I still get acceptable results from the copper insert. I can't say that I get great spin from these wedges; since I couldn't spin a ball on the green with any club. The distance that I get with these clubs is consistent and dependable. Since getting these wedges, my pitching wedge has seen very little duty. For me, the gap wedge flies a consistent 100 yards and the sand wedge flies 90 yards with a smooth swing. If I step on it, I can get 110 out of the gap and 100 out of the sand wedge. The heavier weight helps me to keep the club on plane and helps me keep a good rhythym with my swing.
Cons: The only thing I dont like is that I can't seem to find the 60 degree log wedge compliment (at least not for the price I paid for the other ones.)
Quality: Quality construction. Nice heft, which is an asset out of rough or sand. Great performing wedge.

Review Summary: Would buy them again in a heartbeat. I have never had as much confidence from 100 yards in than since I bought these wedges. Still looking for the lob wedge.
