Purchase: I bought this club earlier in November '05 from American Golf (Purley store). I tried it out in the demo bay and after striking a great noise, I bought this as a spare driver and because my son recommended it. It was brand new and I paid just £140.00 inc. VAT instead of the usual £214.00! (special offer - not sure if they are still at £140 though). Editor: Additional model details: 9.0* Loft Regular Flex Graphite Shaft HI-COR, 41.0sq. cm. sweet zone)
Pros: I like the looks (gorgeous chrome sole, gold cobra alignment guide and composite top), the balance (light composite top and light 45g Mitsubishi Rayon shaft) but best of all - the NOISE - a strike in the sweet spot sounds like a chandelier falling and crashing onto the floor (and it is LOUD). I used this down the driving range and everyone else tried to get their drivers to match the precise noise and loudness of this driver. This driver has a large sweetspot (41.0 sq. cm.) and a thin titanium face which is illegal from 2008 (R&A) and provides the noise I love. Even though it is a large club (454cc), it feels very nimble and agile to use, not clumsy like at all. My shots with this club are very consistent, straight and far due to the very large sweet spot. The grip (manufactured by Golf Pride) is good.
Cons: Small thing only: TaylorMade and Callaway make better headcovers although King Cobra are now producing new versions.
Quality: Excellent quality - very strong titanium body construction and very light yet strong composite top (weight saved is put to the back of the club to promote lower centre of gravity for better launch conditions of the golf ball). Shaft is excellent (although being regular flex, it is very similar to the TaylorMade stiff flex on my R540 XD).
Review Summary: WELL RECOMMENDED. If you are not hitting as far as you expect with this club - try switching golf balls as they actually have more affect on distance (i.e. KEEP THIS CLUB!)
