On 2007-03-16, Five Angels rated this Cobra F - Speed 460 a 4...(7678)
Details: This driver was bought with a stiff flex, Avila shaft @ 9 degrees loft.
Purchase: I purchased this driver for $92 from 3ballsgolf.com - an on-line business of Joe and Leigh's Golf Shop in Easton, MA - via ebay.
The F-Speed is one of the few drivers being designed currently with a draw-bias that does not involve weights. I struggle with my driver, alternating from very straight to having a significant slice. I was looking for a 460cc club head that would promote more consistent drives, at least reducing the tendency to slice, if my swing got too aggressive. The Cobra has a great reputation, so I decided to make the dive on a used model.
Pros: This driver takes a little getting used to, with the slightly closed face requiring you to properly address the ball in that manner (fighting the urge to square the face to the ball). Once you overcome that visual distinction and swing the club, the effects become obvious. I have been to the range twice with this bad boy and not sliced once! In fact, my drives were consistently straight and about 15 yards longer than normal. (I averaged 275 yards previously. I'd say I was approx. averaging 285-290 yards when using this club).
Cons: The only complaint I could possibly have is the sound at impact. I like that 'ping' sound, but this thing is ridiculously loud - almost obnoxious! I am not exaggerating.
Quality: The quality of craftmanship is what you would expect of first tier golf club manufacturer. I'm not sure anymore need be stated - I think most understand what I mean here.
Review Summary: For players looking to have more consistent drives, longer than normal, and with draw-bias, this club is certainly worth the try! I am very happy as it has lived up to the billing.
