On 2007-07-24, Five Angels rated this Cobra F-speed 460cc a 2...(7866)

Details: This 460 cc driver was set-up with 9 degree loft, stiff-shaft and 3 degree closed face. IT is good looking, with the classic, shiny black head and neon Aldila 55 g shaft.

Purchase: I purchased this driver from 3 Balls Golf - the internet vendor alter ego of Joe and Leigh's golf shop in Easton, MA. I purchased this slightly-used demo model and it was in terrific shape - no marks, dents, or obvious signs of wear and tear at all.
Pros: It's weight is incredibly light and has a wide face to increase the ability of hitting the enlarged sweet-spot.
Cons: The face of the driver is closed 3 degrees to provide slice-prone drivers a better chance to close the face and hit it straight. The problem with this is that if your swing improves at all, you end up hooking the ball and having to open the face up to counter the setting! Another feature I don't like is that the face is shallower than some models. I typically tee high to hit the 'screws' at the upper half of the face and for some reason, I keep hitting the ball more in the center or lower part of the face - causing a lower ball flight. Finally (and this seems trite - I know), this driver is obnoxiously loud! It makes the most annoying, screechy-sounding ping.
Quality: The quality of the club is first grade, as you would expect from Cobra.

Review Summary: at first, I thought my swing was completely awry when I couldn't hit the ball with my typical balloon-high flight and hit very shallow, high forward spinning drives. That was until I tested some non-bias drivers, such as the TaylorMade Burner, MacGregor MacTec, and a Ping G5. I hit all, with the same approx. loft as my 9.5 Cobra, fairly long and high - just as I am accustomed to.
