On 2006-05-10, Richard Stevenson rated this Cobra F Speed 3 and 5 woods a 5...(6908)
Details: 3 and 5 woods , F rated
Purchase: Over the past 6 years or so , I have only carried a Driver and 3 Wood , with then a full compliment of irons including a lob wedge.
We have 2 holes at my local course which I am in between yardages on (3 iron no , 3 wood no!)and continually drop shots on.As such I borrowed a mates 5 wood , which I found gave me perfect yardage off the tee on these 2 holes and in addition assisted greatly when needing to hit good shots out of the 'clingy' rough!
I recently upgraded my Driver to the Nike Ignite , Stiff shaft 460cc , which has added at least 30 yards to my drives and is an absolute delight to use and in view that I was unable to locate a 5 wood Callaway Warbird which would have matched my existing 3 wood , which I love , I decided to look to purchase both a new 3 and 5 wood.
I visited Yeovil Golf Club , which I think is the best pro shop in the area , both for price , choice and help and basically hit balls with every make of woods.
As soon as I saw the Cobra Speed range I loved the shape of the head of the clubs , which are more traditional in shape and not the flatter faced clubs , which I just didn't like.
The feel of the Speed Club 3 and 5 woods are just fantastic ,and though I have only played 4 rounds so far , I am definately more consistant off the tee , have played 2 round of just 3 over par and hit 12 out of 14 fairways on Sunday , which included hitting a 5 wood out of the rough just under 190 yards onto the green for par!
The Speed range address the ball really well , they look great and dont sound 'tinny' when you hit the ball , with the flight also being very good.
I paid £120 for each wood.
Pros: They have a nice shaped club head , addressing the ball correctly and aligning is easy and they sound and feel wonderful when you hit the ball.
Loads of feel
Nice grips
Cons: Absolutely nothing and if my clubs were stolen and I needed to replace , then the first items to be bought would definatly be Cobra Speed 3 and 5 woods
Quality: Start form the top down!
Nice 'tacky' grip which is very comfortable in the hands.
The shaft is metallic green in colour and against the gloss black head colour looks great.
The club head is compact and round , gloss black on top with a fantastic hot metal club face.
The overall finish of the club is excellant and I cant speak highly enough of it.
Review Summary: If you are thinking of purchasing new woods , then go and hit the Cobra Speed range of woods before making your final choice.
I hit balls with evry make of club before buying both 3 and 5 wood and tried the different rated shafts that the Cobra range offers , which matchs swing speed etc.
No doubt in my mind that these are really great clubs and I just cant wait to get out on the course again.
Oh and if anyone reads this who are members at Woodbury (hopefully not the handicap committee) watch out in the club knock outs this year!
