On 2005-06-14, Mel rated this Cobra King Cobra Baffler 5/R Utility Club Reg. Aldila NV-HL65 a 5...(5658)

Purchase: I bought this club from Golf Discount in Davenport, Iowa. I had been looking for a Utility Club to replace my 4 iron. 3 weeks ago they had a Rep. day to hit the clubs and I hit Precept, Callaway, Nicadent, Ben Hogan, Cleveland & Cobra Utility Clubs. I was won over by both the Cobra being #1 & Precept #2. I settled on the Cobra. I ended up paying $140 for it.
Pros: The club has such a good feel when hitting the ball flush. I like the way it looks at set up and the feel on a nice easy swing. The top line really frames the ball nicely and gives confidence. The best thing is the distance and ease of being able to hit a very straight consistent ball. The ball flight is a bit more boring than my 22* Orlimar 7-wood, but is just as long. I was looking for this to be in the 160 yard range & it seems to be more like 170. It is so much easier to hit than a 3 or 4 iron!
Cons: Nothing as of yet!
Quality: This is a smart looking club, from the head to the premium Aldila shaft. I've only had it for 2 weeks and nothing has given me any problems. It has that nice compact feel to it.

Review Summary: I'm a 16 handicap & on the first 27 holes I have played with this club, it has set me up on a par 3, 170 to the pin, I put it 12" from the hole & birdied it. Also I birdied a par 4, with my second shot 180 to the pin. I gave myself a chance with a 22 yard putt & birdied it. This club is like cheating in a good way. Try this one out on the driving range to see for yourself. I'm glad I did. I thought I would like the Heavenwood, but it didn't have the feel and trajectory for me.
