Review Summary: Yesterday I played in the Open Day at Wallangarra Golf Club Qld. using a Dunlop Loco golf ball that a friend gave me to try because she thought it would suit my game. Well..after lots of good holes I had my first hole-in-one on the 15th! ..so exciting! I will now use the Dunlop Loco forever. I found it to go further and 'sweeter' than any other ball I have used, it is all you purport it to be. Thankyou.

Details: Original Loco Dunlop golf ball

Purchase: I recently tried the Loco balls because they were on sale at my local Kmart in a 24 ball pack for 12 bucks. How can you go wrong for that kind of money for practice balls? Only, I don't just practice with them now .....
Pros: My normal driver distance is 210-230 .. that is, BEFORE the Loco's .... now I average 240-250 on well-struck drives, and have several 275's and one 300. These are unimaginable distances for me before the Loco. I have heard that they don't bite well, and no 2-piece ball does--you have to factor in a little roll. But since every 10 yards closer to the green means one less club loft, 20-30 yards closer translates into a LOT higher lofted approach shots ... I am now hitting a wedge in on 385 yard par 4's instead of a 7 iron ... not to mention the manly feel of outdriving your faster swinging, stiff-shafted (ummm, clubs) buddies. This ball has changed my game. Since using it this spring and summer, my average scores have dropped from upper 80's to low and mid 80's, and when playing alone sometimes as low as scratch. I'll take a little less spin and more distance any day, if these scrore come with it. That may not be an issue for the big swingers, but for the rest of us, well ... just call me %22Loco!%22
Cons: Hey, if it could also spin like a Pro V1 for 12 bucks a dozen, more of us might have different day jobs .... other than that, it exceeds my expectations .... and I am wondering how it will play in winter weather this year when low compression is a definite advantage ... and finess into the greens doesn't matter much on 36 degree days. I am trying the Super Loco this weekend, even lower compression but supposedly softer .... can I keep the distance and get more feel? We'll see .....
Quality: They last just fine. At this price, who cares?

Review Summary: Slow swing speed? Distance challenged? Struggling with mid-irons? Change all of that with a Dunlop Loco ... and spend the savings on swing lessons!

Details: These are cheap balls unfit to hit into a lake.

Purchase: I paid $20 for these at a Wal-Mart in South Carolina. Decided I would try what someone else said was a great deal.
Pros: I like the durability of the shell. The box that these came in is designed very well. I really like that when I hit these into a lake that they sink.
Cons: I hate this ball is every way! It never came of the clubface very well. I found these were much harder to hit with every club, and simply do not react to a swing as well as Precept or Titleist balls. I also found that after a few drives these loose some of their distance. Sort of like the insides wear out.
Quality: They do not mark easily.

Review Summary: Overall I find this ball to be a really bad purchase and it is hard for me to even give them away. I'm staying with my Precepts.

Purchase: In an on-line article, I read that the Dunlop Loco was rated similar to the Titleist NXT. I had used the NXT before and thought that it was a decent ball so I decided to try out the Loco. I liked it a lot. So much that I have made it my regular ball. I was using Titleist NXTs and Pro V1s and when you factor in price, the Loco is at least as good.
Pros: The Loco has a great feel off the tee and on the green. Plus, you can find them for as little as 18 balls for $11.
Cons: There isn't much that I don't like about this ball but for some, it won't give them the spin that they want or need. I hit a high ball with a lot of spin and I sometimes found that I was backing the Titleist Pro V1 off the green. With the Loco, I can be confident that my ball will sit within 5 feet of where it lands on the green. This ball is supposed to be "Crazy Long" but I get the same distance from it that I get from the Pro V1.
Quality: The ball is a 2-piece ball that is very durable.

Review Summary: Great feel from tee to green and putting. EXCELLENT VALUE.

Purchase: I first bought them at the Gart Sports not far from here, but now I can find them at pretty much any major sporting store with golf stuff. But not at any golf shops. I think I paid $14 for 18 balls.
Pros: I like how soft these Loco's feel off the tee. I have hit many other brands that felt like you were hitting a rock, but these ones are so smooth. It really helps me with focusing on my swing. I also like how much spin you can get on them when hit right off the tee. They also look pleasing to me.
Cons: If you arent careful about were you place your shots, these will roll right off the green. I usually play a par three course with very small greens, and it makes it hard to bump and run shots.
Quality: Loco's are solid. They dont scuff up too much, unless I really hit down on them alot. They also clean up great. Always looking new.

Review Summary: I like these golf balls alot. For the price, quality, and controll, there hard to beat. I think that people should definatly give these a shot. I think that they dont have as much spin as I would want, but I can play my game around that and it works out well.

Purchase: Found one on the course I was playing and tried it off the next tee. Wow, I was very impressed. Won the next 3 holes. Purchased a dozen the next day and have been playing every since.
Pros: Straight and much longer off the tee. Great off an iron or fairwaywood with improved accuracy for approach shots. Chips are crisp and controlable and seem to stick to the green with low bounce. Very durable.
Cons: With the added distance having to reset my distances per club. I can easily see 10 to 12 yards of carry per club. Perhaps even more on the long irons.
Quality: The low compression ball jumps off the club face and at times can't even be felt when contact is made. Seems to hold up well after a round.

Review Summary: I've been using the pro-v1x due to a higher than average swing speed and controlability. I've always averaged about 270 to 290 yards off the tee but now hitting the 300 yard mark alot more often. I just can't justify paying almost three times more for a so called quality ball. I'll take the distance I get with the Loco and and play with anyone from there.

Purchase: Walmart - 14.95 plus two free sleeve special.
Pros: I'm about a mid 80 player. I have play a lot of balls in my short 6 year golf struggle. :). I read all the reviews about this Loco ball here and being a freak for brand name stuff I never really looked into the Dunlop line of balls or equipment. My father being a 40 year master of the game told me Dunlop has been in the business of golf since practically the begining. Who am I to argue that fact, I'm only 39 and probally to young to know anyway. Well back to the Ball - This ball is something special, it travels a long way. Heck it travels a long long way. I have never hit 300+ until I got hold of this bad boy. I hit this ball from a 462 par three 40 yards from the pin with the wind and slightly down hill. I only ever hit on this hole 170-180 before. This is no joke. This bad boy goes! It seems to fly fairly straight and is very fun to hit because it is soft - possibly the softest ball I have ever hit. It wears great for a soft ball. And I bet after you hit this thing for a round you will find yourself going down a club or two to compensate for its awesome distance. This ball also seems to hold its line on putts very well, and the feel of putts it great.
Cons: This ball doesn't hold the green that well, but if you come in high then this won't be a problem. Maybe the Bite version of this ball will enhance this, I'm not usre because I haven't tried them yet - But You bet I will. You will have to adjust your bump and run shots becuase this ball likes to roll. It's not really much of a problem but you may find yourself having to re-learn a few things around the green.
Quality: The ball holds up very well. I was very suprised that it held up so well being it is so soft. Great quality, Great Price, Great Distance, Great on Irons, Great on Putting.

Review Summary: Bottom line is this is a quality ball and excellent and fun to play. Try it out, you won't be disappointed.

Purchase: I bought these on eBay for $16.95 a dozen. I was actually searching for Dunlop Double Ti balls which I had been playing for a while, and ran across the Locos. The description was glowing, which I usually take with grain of salt, but my golf buddy had been playing another low compression ball (Lady Precept) and having good luck, so I decided to give the Locos a try.
Pros: Good price. Nice feel; they make my old Double Ti's feel like a rock. I instantly added 10 to 20 yards to most of my shots.
Cons: They do not respond to thought control and body english on mis-hits.
Quality: Good quality; they hold up well. My problem is more with losing them, but I have played several rounds with a ball and not had any serious cutting, scuffing, etc. going on. I can't really comment on construction since I don't know much about 2-piece, 3-piece, etc.

Review Summary: I only played these for the latter part of last season, 15 or 20 rounds, but I'm convinced. The only negative is that I had to re-calculate my club selection due to increased distance (for instance from 150 I've had to drop from my 6-iron to my 8), so at first I had to make a lot of recovery shots from past the green. I let my buddy try them and she's switching too, though we plan on trying the Loco Bite since our greens are pretty hard and often difficult to hold; we got hold of a couple of Bites last year, but only in time for the last couple of rounds, but they seemed to hold the greens a lot better. My handicap is 16 and hers is 13 (ladies club champion!).

Purchase: I received a sleeve of balls as a "door prize" at a local golf scramble.
Pros: I was impressed with the extra distance I received, between 20 to 30 myards off of the tee with a King Cobra 360 driver. My average drive was around 270 yards before and now I'm averaging between 285 to 295.
Cons: What I don't like about the balls is that after a few rounds, they lose their compression and don't fly as far.
Quality: The construction of the balls are good but I stated before they lose their distance earlier than other balls.

Review Summary: This ball has become my primary ball I play. I have a 10-handicap and will be back down in the single digits soon with this ball, (and add'l practice.) I've just bought 2 dozen with a deal that included 2 free sleeves per dozen. I highly recommend trying this ball. You can't lose, (but, it all depends on how good of a putter you are.)

Purchase: Wal-mart $17.96/doz. Curious after reading reviews.
Pros: Improves distance with all clubs, especially on drives. Great soft feel in a distance ball.
Cons: Requires some club yardage adjustment and has a tendency to roll on the green, which can be adjusted for.
Quality: Excellent for the price.

Review Summary: Great ball, I'd highly recommend it, but please don't tell anyone as I'd like to buy more.

Purchase: Picked up my units at wal-mart $16.99 @ Myrtle Beach. Looking for just the right ball.
Pros: I Love the ball flight coming off the driver. It is high and long. I have a new driver (again)and I went this time with a steel shaft and everyone told me I would lose distance. So I go looking for a ball that goes just a little longer and I found it with this ball. With this ball I am back to the same distance as when I was playing are you ready (PRO V I). Off the Irons the ball is a rocket ship. Great ball for the money.
Cons: The only thing I don't like was the first time I play ball I have to change my club selection and bump and run a little more. From 120yds I hit a PW and now I have to hit a Gap W (this ball is long)
Quality: This ball is Made in the USA an looks great. I think they could take the words crazy long off the ball because it makes it look cheap and some guys that I play with would not play it.

Review Summary: This is a great ball for any kind of money. I have played them all (trust me) all of them. hahahahah... One other nice thing about this ball is the Dunlop Logo on the ball has a little arrow to line up putts.

On 2002-11-28, Anthony Connor rated this Dunlop Loco a 5...(844)

Purchase: I purchased the balls at Wal Mart for $16.95.
Pros: The Loco ball has a soft feel comparable to the best balata balls. It is durable as I played an entire 18 with only two balls (one went to a watery grave). It rolls very true on the green. The bonus is that it is as long as the Ti distance balls I had been playing! If you don't try this one you're Loco!
Cons: The local Wal Mart can't keep them on the shelves and many pro shops don't carry them eventhough their made in my home state of SC
Quality: Top quality great feel tough cover.

Review Summary: If your ball striking around the green results in scuds and fliers, try this ball. Even mishits feel good!

Purchase: Bought at golf shop for $16.99 per dozen.
Pros: Best distance of any ball I have ever used. Particularly long off driver. Not a lot of spin, less than Precepts for example. Great ball for value.
Cons: Could be a little softer for more touch around greens.
Quality: High quality, excellent/best value of almost any ball for lower swing speeds.

Review Summary: Superior distance at a great price. Long lasting as well.

Purchase: Purchased over the Internet. $16.99/doz
Pros: These balls hit as far as the Titlelist Pro V 1. I am a 10 handicap and there is no ball that can come close to this ball for the price. Ratings below 1-5 5=the best rating 1. Distance 5 2. Wear 4 3. Feel 5 4. Bite on Greens 5 5. Durability 5 6. Cost - Best Buy on the Market
Cons: There isn't anything about this ball I don't like except the name LoCo.

Pros: A GREAT FEEL OF CONTROL AND DISTANCE.
Cons: I DONT THINK THERE IS ANYTHING TO DISLIKE ABOUT DUNLOP LOCO GOLF BALLS.
Quality: A TOP QUALITY PRODUCT.

Review Summary: I TRIED THE LOCO BALLS OUT IN A MEDAL COMP. AT MY CLUB, PLAYING OFF 20 I ENDED OUT FINISHING ON A NET 58 ON OUR PAR 68. I THEN ENTERED AN OPEN THE NEXT WEEK AND SHOT A 64 OF MY NEW HANDICAP OF 17, NOW I AM PLAYING OFF 15. I THINK THESE BALLS ARE BRILLIANT AND WILL NOW BUY SOME A.S.A.P. THANK YOU DUNLOP.

Purchase: I'm 77 years old and have been losing distance. My handicap is 28. I bought one dozen Dunlop Loco from golfballs.com hoping to increase my distance.I paid $16.99 for the dozen.
Pros: Playing with the loco has been a new experience. I was able to reach par four greens in two. These greens have not been reachable in two with other balls. I love the soft feel and know I have much better control. Playing the front nine on my course I scored 39, my lowest score ever.Every round I have played with the Loco has chipped away at my handicap. If this continues I'll reduce my handicap by at least 10 strokes.
Cons: There isn't anything not to like. I think I have found the perfect ball for me.
Quality: Quality is excellent. The ball holds up well and I could use one for several rounds if not lost.

Review Summary: Great ball!! I'm ordering three more dozens.

On 2002-06-09, djc rated this Dunlop Loco a 2...(175)

Purchase: I received a free sleeve of these balls from the manufacturer after completing a survey on the Dunlop website.
Pros: These balls are capable of great distance when well-struck. They appeared to jump off the face of the club. However....
Cons: any mis-hit results in substantial panalties. I played these balls on a course that was very tight, and I rapidly grew tired of fetching the balls from adjoining fairways. I also found the balls to be very, very fast on the greens. They were almost uncontrollable.
Quality: High quality (but I haven't foound that many golf balls that were poorly made).

Review Summary: A good ball for a skilled player who seeks great distance and is willing to sacrifice some control. Unfortunately, I don't fall into this category. I hope a more skilled golfer will review this ball in the near future.

On 2002-05-29, HARP rated this Dunlop Loco a 1...(140)

Purchase: THESE WERE FREE SAMPLES DIRECT FROM DUNLOP IN EXCHANGE FOR A REVIEW.
Pros: IT WAS DIFFICULT TO FIND ANYTHING I LIKED. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING THE MAXFLI TOUR AND THESE ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN FEEL, DISTANCE AND CONTROL.
Cons: I PLAYED NINE HOLES WITH THESE AND BEING A BEGINNER I SOMETIMES STRUGGLE WITH CONSISTENT SWINGS. THE MAXFLI'S WILL REWARD ME WITH LITTLE VARIATION RIGHT OR LEFT IF I GIVE DECENT A SWING. THE LOCO'S WERE WAY OFF LEFT ON MARGINAL MIS-HITS. AGAIN THIS MAY BE A SWING FAULT OF MINE. THEY SEEM TO BE KIND OF BRITTLE ON THE GREENS WHEN PUTTING.
Quality: QUALITY SEEMS TO BE GOOD, BUT I CAN'T SEE MYSELF PAYING REAL DOLLARS FOR THESE. THE OLD GREG NORMAN BALLS DUNLOP MADE ARE GREAT. I HAVE A FEW I FOUND IN A GRAB BAG. DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGY IS NOT ALWAYS AN IMPROVEMENT.

Review Summary: OVERALL DISAPPOINTING. SOME OF YOU MAY LOVE THESE, BUT THEY ARE NOT FOR ME.
