On 2004-12-28, sixcharlie rated this Dunlop LoCo Pro (Crazy Long) a 3...(4894)

Purchase: Purchased at Dick’s Sporting Goods for $99. I was looking to upgrade from the driver that came in my starter set and I hit the LoCo the best in the simulator. As a new golfer, I didn’t want to spend $200-$300 on a new driver. I liked the oversized head (less chance to put a sky mark on it) and it felt very light and comfortable in my hands.
Pros: You just can’t beat the price of this driver. It comes stock with a quality Harrison shaft in a “Mid-Firm” flex. With a good swing, it does produce long, straight drives with a good trajectory (loft is 10 deg). I’m not saying this is a miracle club, a slice swing will produce a slice, a hook swing will produce a hook, even when hit dead in the sweet spot, but this driver is more forgiving than others I have hit. In fact, if seems (to me) to really like an easy swing – and the ball will still rocket down the fairway.
Cons: I’m about a 25 handicap with a club head speed around 105 mph. I played a lot of golf this summer and after having the LoCo a few months, it all of a sudden felt dead. Upon examination, the face was cracked. No worry, went back to Dick’s (with out a receipt) and they gave me a brand new one (free!). My other dislikes are cosmetic. I think the bright yellow shaft is a bit loud, I’m not a big fan of Winn grips, but this grip is my favorite of all the Winn’s I’m hand in my hands. Also, the headcover closes via a magnet and tends to grab hold of other things as well. These things I don’t like, but you might.
Quality: Brand name grip, great shaft and (see above) a questionable quality face. Customer service was great.

Review Summary: Over all, I’ve found when I take a nice easy swing with the LoCo, and make solid contact, the ball screams down the middle of the fairway. When I try to kill it, hook-hook-slice-slice. I've since purchased another driver and played with that for a while. But now, the LoCo is back in the bag.
