On 2004-08-06, Shrish rated this Dynacraft Procavity Irons a 5...(3986)

Purchase: I have been playing golf for approx. 4mths now and began with a cheap starter set from Dick's Sporting Goods. I have been playing on a average 3 times each week after work. I realized that the irons were too short for me and also had the wrong lie, causing me to top the ball and also be inconsistent in my hits. I did not want to spend a large sum for OEM set which would also require custom fitting so decided to go to Dynacraft and get fitted. Total cost $220. Having Dynacraft relatively close to me also helped (3 hr drive). Lonnie at Dynacraft did an excellent job helping me narrow down to the procavity Irons as ones suitable for my game and tastes.
Pros: First off the iron heads are extremely simple and classy in their appearance. They do not look like copies of any of the OEM irons available today. They have a thin top edge & virtually no offset which makes them easy to align during the address stage. Further I got the 3-SW set with custom shafts & grips for a very reasonable price (1/3 what I would have had to pay for an OEM set). For a cavity back set they offer excellent feel. I can feel it if I either toe or heel the ball. After the lie angle adjustment I have had no trouble achieving the accuracy and distance I was looking for. Being cavity back they are also forgiving at the same time. I read a past review on these irons stating that they were middle of the road in terms of playability, forgiveness and ease of use which I agree with completely. To put in one word these irons are very 'comfortable'. Since I have not hit irons from the well known OEMs I will not comment how they stack up against them. Compared to my old set the feel super. With 1 inch longer TT XL lite shafts the clubs have the right swing weight for me. They feel wonderfully balanced and have added roughly 15 to 20 yds to my distance per iron. Also I have no trouble hitting the #3 iron which used to give me headaches with my starter set. The face of the irons has a nice almost sand blasted texture to it with deep grooves. This is really helping me get some backspin on the greens.
Cons: Nothing so far. They look as good as the day I purchased them. I do tend to take good care of my equipment, but still the heads look 'as new polished'. I probably not get much when I trade them in but at the moment I doubt if that will happen over the next few years.
Quality: Outstanding. Very comparable to OEM sets I have seen at the golf stores around town. The heads have a nice uniform polished appearance and the shafts / ferrules are top notch.

Review Summary: For the price and the terrific customer service from Dynacraft, one would be hard pressed to find a better set.
