Purchase: After trying on many different shoes at the local "discount" golf shop monopoly that did not have this shoe and being fed the line that Footjoys really were not a very comfotable shoe, I made the mistake of buying a pair of Mizunos that felt just, well, "OK." After wearing the Mizunos aroound the house for a bit without the spikes I concluded my feet would not appreciate it if I put them through 18 holes with these shoes. So off I went to try and find a more comfortable shoe. After a little research and traveling to try on the shoe I had really wanted to try, gee, surprise, surprse..The footjoys really ewre qyute coomfortable. In fact the contours felt like slippers with good arch support! And I have very finiky (sp?) feet with high arches. But...yes there is always a but...the version of the contour being sold (or perhaps "hawked" is a better word...Do you ever get the feeling that the golf shop salseman has a second job as a used car salesman? Seriously, these guys have to be cut from the same mold) was actually the 2003 year model and not the 2004/2005 model. But they were selling it at retail as the latest model. Of course when I asked about this he suggested I had confused the shoes with another and then when pressed admitted that perhaps that was a new model I was seeing on the internet. So he was either lieing or ignorant. Take your pick. At this I gave up and went home and bought the latest model online from OurGolfDiscounts.com for less than the so called '"discount" golf shops were selling the 2003 or older model. I really tried to buy from them and not just try something on and then go buy it online, but they just didn't do themselves any favors by hawking old products at new product full retail prices. I honestly don't know how they survive.
Pros: This shoe has excellent support and a very plush feeling...Like a cross between a tennis shoe and a slipper. It comes with a 2 year water warranty (and has since 2004 - beware saleman hawking the 1 year warranty version as the latest..see above). Fit and comfort are what set any golf shoe apart and this one has it. I mean, they all have cleats and provide the "bite" you need on those power drives or when hitting off a packed dirt hill after your monster drive sailed wide right, so get the one that will at least leave your feet happy at the end of the day:)...Oh, they are very lite and good looking as well (I got the ones with the antique brown over black underlay on white shoes..slight variation on the classic look).
Cons: Nothing..well I guess if they had been free I would haved liked them better.
Quality: The shoe has all leather uppers and the last is very solid and stable. Plus they come with a 2 year water proof warranty (just in case you had not caught that yet). I expect many good years out of them.
