Purchase: I've seen this unit on many sites, it was just a matter of searching through them to see who had the cheapest price. The site I found to do just that was www.shotsavers.com at $19.95 (S/H not included, total wt. 3lbs.). Prices ranged from $19.99-$27.99.
Pros: Only needs 2 AA batteries (which are included)and is simple to operate: remove cage, insert ball, replace cage, press button for approx. 20 sec to reach full speed, insert tip of marker in the hole that's above the equator to mark line, release button and allow ball to stop completely before removing from cage. It also conforms to USGA rules.
Cons: While the unit does have a marker holder, the marker is not a common size that you can pick up easily. Replacement markers are expensive around $12 for 4 markers. An order form comes with the unit.
Quality: The unit is made completely of plastic and the marker is not of high quality. If the unit were to drop, it's a great possibility that it would break. The manufacturer recommends that the ball come to a complete stop on its own, and I'm assuming that it there to help the motor of the unit last longer.

Review Summary: Even though the quality might make some shy away from this product, it nevertheless does what it says it does. The product works and the minor deficiencies can be overlooked. No more soaking golf balls in Epsom salts to find the "sweet spot".
