On 2005-03-31, Jackie rated this GolfPak Dual Strap System a 4...(5296)

Purchase: I purchased a stand bag through an on-line auction, and it came equipped with the GolfPak strap. Given that one can sometimes score well with auctions, I got the bag and strap for 17.00; the strap alone retails for 19.95. GolfPak can be found at (www.golfpak.com)
Pros: The strap attaches solidly to the bag without interfering with the handle. There are five points of adjustment (nylon Fastek-type buckles), with the mail strap adjustments accessable while wearing the bag. The straps appear to be well-made, and are lined with a velour-like wicking material, which should help with slippage on hot days. When properly adjusted, the straps balance the bag well over the lumbar region. As a hiker, it will take a little getting used to, but it clearly beats a single strap by a long mile.
Cons: I got a little impatient trying to figure out exactly how to sling the bag. a sewn-in tag provided the Web address, which clearly showed how to wear the straps. A simple hang-tag would have been nice, but given that this was included as OEM equipment, it might have been ost in installation. I am 5'9', and given the strap length, I am not sure if the system would work well for anyone shorter than 5'6"
Quality: The straps are Cordura, padded with high-compression foam (not as much as a good backpack, but given the combined weight of bag and clubs won't come close to approaching a loaded backpack, that seems reasonable!). Basic nylon webbing and nylon buckles are solidly sewn on, and the whole unit is light weight.

Review Summary: The GolfPak Dual Strap System is a simple way to balance a bag. It will reduce fatigue and the potential for shoulder pain. Most stand bags come with some sort of decent strap system, but for an older bag of a replacement strap, this should nicely fill the bill.
