On 2002-10-28, Brock63 rated this GolfPak Club Set from KMart a 1...(733)

Purchase: Purchased this beginners intro club set from local KMart for $179.00 plus taxes...mostly because with never touching a set of clubs before I did not want to spend a lot of money and then figure out I did not like golf.
Pros: Price and golf bag that came with clubs is nice...has double strap golfpak harness and plenty of pockets plus a sturdy stand system.
Cons: The graphite shafts of the irons have all broke from normal use where they are glued into the hosel of the irons. They are breaking both on driving range and course and have had two heads fly off when hitting the ball at range...luckily I was not taking practice swings where someone might have walked in front of me since they flew 20-30 yds. I contacted Golfpak website and received my first reply after two inquiries 3-4 weeks later...and was pushed to a subcontractor that builds the clubs for Golfpak. Not impressed at all with quality or customer service.
Quality: First appearances seem good...two other friends bought the same exact clubs within days of mine. One guy has had one breakage...while the other has had 2-3 irons break. My breakage of all irons with only PW and drivers still good is the leader. Lots of shaft flex, even for regular flex shafts...and an apparent weak spot on shaft tip area where they are fitted to heads. Golf bag is fairly good for a $40.00 bag from a department store. My only complaint is that the mouth seems a little small if you have a full 12-14 club set in there...and the dividers while going to the bottom are not attached on sides and allows shafts from neighboring tubes to enter adjacent areas and cause contact and problems in inserting shafts during play. Removable water bottle is good...and lined personal pouch for rings, watch or change is great. Good umbrella loop....good for one that was included with full set of clubs. Appears all the money went for bag and clubs were an afterthought in quality...would recommend just buying a Golfpak bag from Kmart if they are what you like and in your price range...and skip the clubs.

Review Summary: I wish I would have bought clubs from Pinemeadowgolf.com instead at the beginning...much, much better quality, construction and function and cost. I do not recommend the Golfpak club sets for anyone...and would tell them to visit a shop that sells used clubs...or visit www.pinemeadowgolf.com and buy either one of their full sets...or buy an iron set and add drivers and wedges according to your budget and needs...or mix namebrands in with them...which is what I have done... Stay away from Golfpak beginner club sets for adults...bag is fine for low budget bags but clubs are the worse with 7 out of 11 clubs breaking in less than 2 months with no obstruction strikes...only the little white balls.
