Purchase: I bought the components from Golfsmith matched the heads to a set of rifle shafts at 5.0 and Winn DSI midsized grips. I weighted them to D4 and bent them a degree flatter. I was looking for more forgiveness but I didn't want to lose the ability to shape shots. I've been playing these clubs for two years now and they have more than met my expectations. Pros: I love the feel and the way they set up. I'm a firm believer that if the club appeals to your eye it will result in more confidence, and better play. These irons have absolutely delivered. CG is behind the ball which allows me to work shots but still take advantage of the forgiveness that the cavity back design affords me. I wasn’t as concerned with distance for myself, but in the right hands they will go long. Cons: They have a thicker top line than I would like. Quality: Well I built these so the construction is superb ;-) The quality of the components are equal to any of the OEM's out there. Review Summary: After more than 30 years of playing golf my swing has slowed down, but my ability to strike the ball is still relatively solid. I find I'm getting just as good results today from these clubs as I did with my blades during my best years at the game. (Although, I may have to back down a club or two). My first day out with these clubs, I shot a 77. One of the best rounds I’ve had in a while. What could be a better testament then that!

Purchase: These glubs were purchased as components from the Golfsmith website. I bought the 2-PW iron set, coupled with True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts in a S300 flex, with Winn grips. Pros: If you've been hearing about the "great feel" of forgings, but don't want to pluck down $800 to acquire a set, this is a great alternative. There is a lot of satisfaction to assembling your own clubs (this is my first attempt) and any reasonably intelligent person can do it. You simply cut the shafts to length (the fitting and trimming instructions are on the website), press on the ferrules after heating in boiling water to soften, epoxy on the heads, then slip on the grips.
The clubs feel absolutely SWEET! The sensation of a well-struck shot is unlike any of my previous clubs, and I have played with Pings (Zing 2), Callaways (Steelhead), Cleveland (TA5) and most recently Top Flites. The look at address is very clean, with a thin topline that I definitely prefer over the "fatter" appearing clubs I previously owned.
If you ever get the chance to play a forged set, you must. Your life will be changed forever! Cons: The longer irons are more difficult to hit due to the slightly smaller clubhead than what I am used to. I simply need to spend more time with these to develop a deap, loving relationship. Quality: The quality is excellent, with a very deep chrome finish. As the builder, YOU control the final fit and finish of these clubs, and get to choose components you feel most comfortable with, rather than settling for whatever the manufacturer provides. And, with your new clubmaking skills, you will be able to swap shafts or grips should you not find your original selection to your liking. Review Summary: Everyone golfer should, at least once in their lives, assemble their own set of clubs. It is a very rewarding experience, and working with a complete supplier like Golf Smith makes it really easy.
