On 2004-12-07, Physics rated this Grip Master Leather Golf Grips a 5...(4828)

Purchase: Most of my golf is played in the south which is prone to humid weather and rain. Most rubber grips do not function well in wet weather and cord grips are rough on the hands. The Grip Master grips were advertised as being a single piece leather grip for use in all weather (especially wet) with a soft feel. I purchased a grip kit which included 13 grips, 13 tape strips and a bottle of solvent for installation. The cost for the kit was $144, which included free shipping. I purchased the Pro Tapered grip style with perforations in black color and standard size.
Pros: Upon arrival each grip was packaged in its own plastic wrap along with individual tape strips (with peel off backings)and a bottle of non toxic solvent (advertised as a wax base compound) for installation. True to the advertisement, these grips are a one piece leather grip (the underling and leather wrap are a single unit). The grips are not difficult to install and are like installing any other grip with the only difference being a twisting action is needed. The non toxic solvent works well. Grip Master's internet site provides additional instructions for installation. The Grip Master grips are really sticky. One really does not need a glove to play with these grips. The advertisement indicates the wetter the weather the more tacky the grip beomces. This is true. I played on a rainy day and had no problem with gripping the club. The grips are soft and help to stop vibration. The cap at the top of the grip can be removed and the grips can be re-tensioned if necessary. A nice feature. Clean up is a breeze. A wet towel (warm or cold water) is all that is neceesary. No detergents or solvents are needed.
Cons: The grips are expensive, however, they are advertised to last two to three times longer than standard grips. The grips are so tacky they actually will remove material from the more expensive caberetta leather type golf gloves. A much cheaper glove can be used with these grips.
Quality: Top notch. Very well designed and high quality leather is used in the construction.

Review Summary: If you play golf in wet weather these are perfect.
