On 2006-11-17, Bill Anderson, Sarasota, Fl. rated this Henry Hatton DTG-5 Forged Cavity Backs a 5...(7521)

Details: Left handed, senior flex, True Temper Dynalite shafts with Lampkin Crossline grips. They were custom built to my specs. for no extra charge by Diamond Tour Golf.

Purchase: I have been playing Cleveland TA-6 irons for the past couple of years, but have wanted to try to some forged cavity backs. If you put the word 'forged' into the equation, the price usually jumps into the $800 bracket, so when I came across the Henry Hatton DTG-5 forged cavity backs it got my interest up. I paid just over $225 to Diamond Tour Golf Co. for my custom made irons with True Temper A flex steel shafts, in left hand. I sold my Clevelands after playing these. The Clevelands cost over twice as much, too, and they are only a cast club head.
Pros: They are a very clean design with a wider sole and a deep, forged cavity back. I love the feel they have and have even put the 3 and 4 irons back into my bag. They are easy to hit, very forgiving and super soft feeling. Overall, I think they are a real bargain for the price. I really can't see that the Mizuno or Titleist forged cavity back irons are worth $600 more than these. The build quality from Diamond Tour Golf is first class and I would have to say I am very pleased with the irons. FORGED cavity backs for this price are a steal. You need to check these out.
Cons: So far, nothing to dislike. How can you fault a good set of forged cavity backs for just over $225 for a three thru pitchiing wedge, built to my specifications. Diamond Tour Golf has always been super helpful to me and their service is top rate.
Quality: I think they compare favorably with clubs costing several times as much. Mine have True Temper steel shafts and Lampkin Crossline grips.

Review Summary: Well worth considering, once you get over the bargain price. I don't think I will be spending any big bucks for the OEM clubs any more with this kind of quality at this price. With the money I save, I can play a lot more golf.
