On 2005-06-10, VirginiaGolfer rated this Henry Hatton DTG1 a 4...(5637)

Purchase: I found out about this unknown after searching the Internet... I typed in "Irons forged blade" and up pop this brand of club that I have never heard of. I have always loved blades, and have played blades from Wilson Staffs to Mizunos, and I LOVE my Mizuno forged blades! But at the rpice offerd for a set of custome built clubs, I took the bait and tried them.
Pros: First I ordered a "sample" 6 iron. After seeing the price, I wanted to make sure that it was not a joke, and after using their 6 iron and an MP32 6 iron, I decided to get their set (2 - PW) built just for me at my specs. Yes, I love the MP32, but being an over 60 year old retiree, money is now a real factor in the decision making process. As for the Henry Hatton, I love the finish and I love the feel. I love the way I hit them and I love how I can shape my shots. I just bought them so I can can not comment on the quality over the long haul, but for now. I like them just fine, and at less than $200 a set, they are great!
Cons: So far, there is nothing that I don't like about the set, but it is too early to tell. All things considered, they are a lot better than I thought they would be at that price. I am a 12 handicap and the first time I used them I shot an 82, and that is with three putting five greens... not bad for new (untried) clubs.
Quality: It would seem that based on appearance, the quality is not up to the standards of what I am use to: Mizuno tends to spoil you that way, but the quality was not objectionable either. At around $200 per set, It is not the quality that one would expect from a set of clubs costing 4 times as much, but the comparison is unfair.

Review Summary: As a retiree golfer (who has little funds) but who is serious about the game, I would recommend these clubs. Take the time to have them custom built for you and your game. It is worth it and it costs no more to have them built just for you.
