Purchase: I bought this club @ Meijer's for $49.99. It was a necessary purchase since I was without a driver. The stiff shaft and 9 degrees of loft appealed to me at the time.
Pros: The fact that it is only offered in 9 degrees of loft.
Cons: Poor engineering along with poor shaft performance. After only two months, the heel of the clubhead has a good sized dent...the stiff shaft feels like a regular flex shaft to me. Is it really a driver with a stiff flex shaft??
Quality: Poor construction and poor quality. Save your money and buy a King Cobra SZ Driver.

Review Summary: Yeah, I can cream the ball with this club, but the price that I paid for crushing those golf balls is a large dent on the heel of the clubhead. The S shaft is to whippy, and shots are not as straight as I hoped that they would be. If you insist on buying this club (Lord have mercy on your soul), immediately get a new shaft (a stiffer S shaft or an X shaft).

Purchase: I've been driving the ball with a Titleist 975D - 8.5 d driver for the last 4 years. My 3 wood was a Titleist 13.5 d strong 3. I could crush my driver but couldn't hit the strong 3 - so I went into the market for a new 3 wood. Edwin Watts had a special on the Hippo Giant 400cc driver with free matching 3 wood (15 d) for $99.00. I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for, but I read a few reviews and thought that I couldn't go wrong for $100.
Pros: I immediately liked the club when I took it out of the box (ordered online). It set up well, had clean lines, you could tell it was well built. I was worried about the head weight being too light - but it was perfect! Was a little leary about the shaft and grip - but quicly found that they wern't a problem either once I got the club on the range then on the course. Swing easy with good mechanics and you will drive the ball further then you ever thought possible. My first drive was on a 471 par 5. An easy swing lauched the ball with a slight fade - the ball came to rest 2 yards from the 150 yard marker - that's a 320 yard drive...and it was effortless! I was hooked. That one drive filled me full of confidence everytime I addressed the ball on the tee box. I only hit one errant drive all day.
Cons: What's not to like? $99.00, a matching 3 wood of equal quality, and more confidence than I've ever had. I'm trading in my Titleists for a Cleveland wedge and a two ball putter! If I had to pick something it would be that you may be penalized for over swinging. Even with the stiff shaft, an over swing will result in a hard fade.
Quality: Well built. Love the tink sound. Grip may not last - no biggie. We'll see how long it lasts - but I'm sure it will be a while.

Review Summary: Love this driver. I've always been a 'name brand' guy - but this driver has made me retire my Titleist. The Hippo Giant 400cc driver is a winner in feel, looks, performance and price. And, come to find out, quite a few European Tour professionals use the Hippo line of products.

Purchase: The Giant was a Christmas gift bought at Edwin Watts in Atlanta. It cost $59 dollars(there is no way I can afford or justify the cost of a Top brand name driver). It was a great surprise, I had barely mentioned the thing to my wife...woke up Christmas day and there it was!! I had used a friends several times during the summer and been amazed at the difference. My driver is a Cobra clone which has served me well over the years. However, I was becoming frustrated at my lack of distance off the tee and always near the back of my foursome in distance(230-250yds). Thus, trying too hard to keep up caused awful shots. Hitting the Giant was so easy I couldn't believe it.
Pros: The Giant is very light which makes my swing so easy. The club head is huge and gives tremendous confidence at address. There is no way you are going to get bad contact. Then the results are...HOLY COW! You can really crush this thing. I have an average swing speed and as long as you swing within yourself the results are very long and very straight. If you overswing you will slice. If you hit off center you still get straight shots that still go long(250yds). Hit it on the screws and you'll get great results 275-300yds for me(I can now keep up with my buddies). My game is to hit straight, I am not one to try and work my drives, so I can't give any insight there.
Cons: After 2 months there is nothing I don't like about it
Quality: The quality is excellent. The stiff shaft works very well for me. Hippo grip is fine . Construction seems good.

Review Summary: For the price, this is a great driver. the results are truely amazing. At this point, i can't fathom how companies can charge the amount of money they do...their results can't be that much better...can they? Bottom Line-this driver is easy to hit, very long and straight and incredibly cheap. In my mind a no brainer

Purchase: I purchased my Hippo Driver from E-Bay for $31.00 plus shipping.I used my Brother inlaws and liked it
Pros: I hit the Hippo 15-20 yarde farther than my Big Bertha and as straight.
Cons: I think they mislead you in the stiffness of their shafts, looking at their brochure, they say the shafts that are available are regular, firm, senior and ladies flexes.I believe when people see the " S " on the shaft they think they are gettind a stiff shaft and then they are unhappy when they try the club
Quality: The construction and quality of the club seems to be very good for the price

Review Summary: I feel they should better describe the shaft flexes

Purchase: For Father's Day my wife took me to a golf shop to buy a driver when my previous one's head flew off during a round. My budget was no more than $200 so I picked several drivers and went to the back of the building to try them out. I choose the Hippo and was surprised that it turned out to be the least expensive of the drivers at $100.
Pros: It is easier to hit straighter shots with this club than the others I've tried. I'm a recreational golfer and do not have much time to play or practice so I need a club that is forgiving. With a 80% swing I'm able to drive the ball about 200 to 250 yards consistently and straight.
Cons: If I take a full 100% swing I have a huge slice. I'm not sure if this is because of the flex of the club or just me. I'll find out when I take some golf lessons
Quality: The units construction and quality have been fine. I've hit it at the driving range and for a round of gold so I don't have any long term stats.

Review Summary: Try it out when you are looking for a new driver. It has a good feel to it and the price is right.

Purchase: Saw add for Direct Golf UK in Golf Weekly. Purchased over the phone. Wanted a better driver than the standard set-drivers. Bit of a John Daley fan also. All the reviews were great. Cost £85.
Pros: Great club for long-straight drives. The large head is very forgiving. It looks a bit unwieldy, but once you get used to the feel of the extra size, a difference hardly noticeable when you swing the club, it's easy to hit. I read that clubs with larger heads and lower lofts were more difficult to control and shape. Well this was soooo easy to shape. Fades, draws. When you're hitting the ball 350 yards (320m) it's amazing how many more shape shots you need to make. This club lets you make them.
Cons: After about six months of use the head cracked along the side opposite the shank. My parents tried calling Direct Golf UK (I had moved to Brazil), and I tried emailing them, but they're not answering. I'm going back to the UK in a couple of months, maybe I'll knock on their door, or get a lawyer to do it for me. Have not managed to contact Hippo either. Their web site is a waste of time for any type of customer service. I know of others who have had the same problem (even with ocntacting Direct-Golf UK and Hippo), even someone who has left a review here. Must be a design/production flaw. Finally, the stiff shaft could have been a bit stiffer. I'd have ordered an extra-stiff if I'd know.
Quality: Thought both great until the club cracked. The club does what it claims, but for me did so for only six months.

Review Summary: I'd have another, even though my first broke, just to get the same confidence and distance off the tee, but would want a cast iron guarantee of my money back if the second club has the same problem as the first. Assuming the head durability issue has been or is being solved, I'd recommend this club to anyone. If not, don't get it unless you can afford to take the risk of replacement, as I don't see Hippo or your supplier replacing it free of charge without a big fuss. If anyone knows how to get hold of Hippo and resolve this, please email me. Just send an email to thr@planet-save.com. Rates only three because of the durability of the product, otherwise I'd give it a shiny, well polished five.

Purchase: I am from the Philippines. Two months ago I just bought a New ERCII. Unfortunately I am having difficulting in using the club. I am not hitting it as consistently as my Great Big Bertha. My friend bought a Hippo Giant for his father for $120(I know the price went down to $99). Unfortunately the father died of heart failure, so he never used it. When I tried the Hippo Giant, it took me just a couple of holes to get used to it. I have since then exchanged my ERCII for the HIPPO GIANT with my friend, at no additional cost to him. Thats how much I like the Hippo.
Pros: The Hippo Giant is easy to hit with good yardage and straighter shots. In fact even on shot that I did not hit solidly, I still get very good yardage(surprisingly). The paint job is pretty unique(the color changes on the angle that you view the club).
Cons: Ball marks stick to the face of the club. I usually wipe the face after each tee shot so that I can see in my next tee off if I hit my shot properly and in the sweet spot. Unfortunately, I cant do the same with the Hippo Giant Driver. The cover for the head is nice but with a very big head, sometimes it takes a little bit of a struggle to take it our.
Quality: Its got a multi colored paint. The shaft is Hippo Giant superlite that has regular flex. The head has a 10 degree angle.

Review Summary: I am surprised that a relatively cheap club can perform so well, in fact outperforming other well known and expensive club. Not known for hitting mean shots, I have solited comments like my Hippo Club will be investigated on to see if its legal (jokingly) because I am getting another 20-30 yards on the average. On my two complains on the club: Maybe the manufacturer of Hippo Giant can put a chemical so that I can easily wipe off the ball marks after each shot. As far as the cover of the head is concerned may I suggest that a Zipper be incorporated (similar to the cover of ERC II). Finally I would like to say THANK YOU to the manufacturer for producing a VERY GOOD CLUB at a Cheap Price. May your tribe prosper.I

Purchase: I'd read some good reviews on the Hippo so I bought this from Direct Golf UK for 60 quid
Pros: It was very cheap and I like the colour.
Cons: Everything else
Quality: Construction looks ok

Review Summary: This is an awful driver. I took it to the range and out of 8 shots I failed to produce a half decent drive. I went back to my 975D and smacked it. The Titleist is supposed to be difficult to hit! No comparison. I hated the sound, I hated the feel, I didn't like the toe in. I suppose you get what you pay for both in goods and service. Direct Golf refused to exchange it as it had been 'used' Beware.

Purchase: I purchased the Giant Hippo 400cc at Edwin Watts for a price of$99.99 and believe me this is the greatest driver I have ever owned!!!!. I purchased this driver because I was watching this golfer at the driving range hitting his ball over the back fence and when I asked him if I could try his driver and he said yes and a marriage was formed.
Pros: No matter what spot on the driver you hit you will always find that you are getting greater distance than you ever had before. I hit a shot the other day off the toe and the ball rested 327 yards from the tee box. The larger hitting ares gives you more confidence because of its size which allows you to swing freely
Cons: The only negative result I find that the stiff shaft is not as stiff as what I played with before which was a Callaway.
Quality: The Club is very attractive with its blue color head and shaft which starts out fat and narrows down at the head.

Review Summary: I have been playing golf for over 25 years and you always head about greater distance better accuracy that a certain club would give you then you go out and try it and it fails. This driver I saw in action and when I tried it WOW!!! and how can you beat the price. Normally a club priced as this is you would think no way could it perform, guess what wrong. Go out and have fun and buy a Hippo Giant 400cc.

Purchase: This driver was purchased on vacation in Naples, Florida at Edwin Watts Golf Supercenter. I purchased this club because I love hitting the ball long off the tee, and the bigger the driver the farther the ball goes. Because, mass times velocity equals distance. I paid $150 for the driver, and they threw in a free three wood.
Pros: I love the huge sweet spot, you can hit it off center and still clear 250 yds. The club hits tremendously solid, and the ball comes off the clubface very fast. Depending on the ball you are using, an additional 15-20 is possible by using this club.
Cons: The main complaint I have about the club is the shaft flexibility. At times it seems to lag behind the swing, and cause slices.
Quality: Hippo did a wonderful job in constructing this very large driver, it hits well, and very solid. They used high quality materials, and used a great model for construction.

Review Summary: I love to really go after the ball off the tee, and the Hippo Giant driver has enabled me to do so. I feel confident to go in and tee it high and swing out of my shoes, and believe me, the ball goes. I am now consistently hitting the ball 290 to 310 off the tee. Great club for a great price.
