Purchase: I started research on the Internet for new clubs. Must have visited all the major brand sites, including INNOVEX. I went to their web site and read everything there was about their irons and the company. I then called the sales department and was lucky enough to connect with Kevin Downey. There was no sales pitch or pressure, but he showed much interest in my physical condition and makeup. He answered my questions and concerns like a true professional. His explanation for the need of four different wedges made an awful lot of sense to me. I was very comfortable with his answers and suggestions. I was surprised when he asked me to re-measure the distance from my wrist to the floor, as he thought I must have measured incorrectly. He was right and I then understood that he was genuinely interest in giving me the correct product, not just making a sale.
I had considered several other brands for purchase, but it became evident to me that the INNOVEX design and quality were going to be just as good, if not better than the most of the others. The new set was to include “hybrid” four and five irons. I was pleasantly surprised that the new set of clubs was going to be hundreds of dollars cheaper than the other brands I was considering. ($390)
Pros: I made a good choice by purchasing them in early May. I admit, they felt very different than my old clubs, but definitely not uncomfortable. Mostly, they felt lighter and shorter in length. While trying them at the range, I noticed I wasn't swinging nearly as fast, or should I say as "hard" as I was with the old ones. I wasn't getting as much distance as I was with the old ones (10 to 15 yards less), but I was hitting the ball straighter. After playing three rounds, I was elated with the accuracy and decided that I could live with the shorter distance. I am still figuring out the distances of each of the four wedges. I like the way I can get height and "bite" from each of them, especially the 60-degree lob wedge. Now, after eight rounds, I have regained much of the lost distance. It is fair to say that if I hadn’t seen the improvement in accuracy immediately, I may not have been so optimistic and maybe would have had other problems. At any rate, I am 100% satisfied with Innovex Irons.
Cons: There are no negatives at this time.
Quality: Top notch.
Review Summary: I have since purchased a 3-Wood from them. I went to the range the evening it arrived. I topped the first two shots, but solidly hit about ten in a row after that. I have used it as a driver since then, with very acceptable results. I am optimistic about eventually reaching drives of 250 yards, which will be plenty for me. I'm 100% satisfied at this point with quality, feel, accuracy, distance and service.
